I don't see what the problem is? Loeffler has done a masterful job marketing GGG. It's one of the best jobs I've ever seen from a promoter. To take a fighter who speaks broken English, from Kazakhstan and build him up as this phenomenon . He's had him fight in Europe and on the East and West coast in US. In 2.5 years he's become one of the fastest rising stars in the sport and one of the top 3 fighters on HBO.

A lot of fighters have bad teams (Ward, Rigo, Andrade etc.) who can't promote properly and who are likely going to end up hurting their careers.

HBO can only do so much. They can show the fights, and talk about the fighter. But the fighter has to show up, put on a performance every night and fight often. GGG has done all that.

I just hope other promoters learn from Loeffler and we might get more GGG's in the future.

I agree. I personally believe Kov is the better fighter of the two.

I was on the hype train for years, last night I got off. Gennady literary has NO defence and as much as I know it's to build his fan base and whatever but he was using his face to block nearly everything Willie threw at him. I'm still a fan but I cringed a lot during the fight and I felt Gennady let himself down. His corner did him a great service when they told him to stop looking for it and set his attacks up properly. One to certainly forget last night. He needs Cotto or Canelo in either his next fight or the one directly after because he looks seriously bored and disinterested.

          Broner's hype was worse IMO.
Lots of boxing fans (especially on this forum) bought the hype big time. They were calling him the future of the sport because he beat DeMarco and Rees.

Rubio knocked out Lemieux, who many are regarding as a top fighter in the division now. I get that Rubio and Lemieux are different fighters currently but it did happen. And GGG dispatched Rubio fairly easily. Rubio was a top fighter in the division.

When HBO did this with Berto the same posters who shat on Berto are defending GGG. Interesting.

berto wasn't trying to fight the best in his division and ggg is so yeah its actually the complete opposite thing. also ggg already beat 3 top 5 guys while berto beat zero so once again not the same at all. if you remember the berto bum parade was what got haymon kicked off hbo.
