  • HBO has done an incredible job with GGG

I can't think of many other fighters that have become so popular so quick without having any notable wins.

They tell the public he's great, and they eat it up. Jim Lampley looking at Roy at the end of the fight telling him "it's working" is all the proof I need.

Also have to love the hypocrisy of tonight's interview, he declares he's a fighter now, he wants Canelo and Cotto now (naturally smaller fighters), Ward gets mentioned and his whole triumphant epic speech comes to a halt, all of a sudden doesn't want to fight everyone and anyone right now, just smaller less mobile fighters.

Ward would kill this guy, and I'm so happy that interview happened so everyone saying that Ward was ducking GGG can see the truth.

The hype is unreal. I personally think Kovalev is not only the better fighter but more exciting along with fighting better competition. Yet Kovalev is fighting in other fighter's backyards or in small arenas

Golovkin has beaten ten top 15 MW fighters.

Notable wins include Geale, Murray, Ouma, Rubio and Macklin.

Max Kellerman: He fights like he is great, but we don't know if he is a great fighter until he gets in the ring with better fighters (i'm paraphrasing the last part).

Doesn't sound too Pro-Golovkin to me. Sounds like he is acknowledging that he hasn't fought the best opposition.

But whats important to remember is that unlike previous HBO products like Andre Berto, Chad Dawson to an extent -- he isn't cherry picking opposition at his weight class. It's that the top fighters at 160 are ducking him, from Quillin to Cotto.

It's like professional wrestling in the 80s. Fans loved seeing the stars squash jobbers, it made them seem like larger than life monsters.

Absolutely, I wonder why HBO isn't pushing his name out there as hard as GGG. I'm seeing so many casuals on my Facebook talking about how GGG is the best fighter in the world right now. HBO has done a remarkable job marketing this guy.
