Did not think much of Golovkin vs Monroe or Canelo vs Kirkland. Both were mismatches and both fighters need to be held to the standard their hype necessitates.

last couple weeks have been fun fights but people are acting like thats what boxing needs i.e. mismatches set up to create KOs. Same people then complain when we have two evenly matched foes that end up going the distance

when is the next fight with evenly matched opponents where the winner isn't known before the 1st round bell?

I like knockouts as much as everyone but mismatches isn't going to save boxing (not that it needs saving)

Boxing doesn't need saving, but it isn't as popular with casual sports fans, especially in the States, as it once was, and fights like Canelo/Kirkland and GGG/Monroe would bring more fans to the sport if they were seen by the "casuals"

Back when Tyson was at his peak he was a huge favourite to win every fight he had and millions of people all over the world tuned in hoping and expecting to see Iron Mike demolishing yet another challenger. They always more or less knew that Tyson was going to win, but they also knew it was going to be exciting and would most likely end with a KO.

The average sports fan who doesn't follow boxing closely wouldn't even have known that GGG was a big favourite to beat Monroe and wouldn't have cared too much about that anyway.

The sport needs better promoting. Not enough money is used towards creating hype for casuals. You never hear about boxing in the news or see sponsors on TV. The Mayweather - Pacquiao fight was promoted beautifully. That type of stuff needs to happen more regularly.

Also a good point was made by one of my friends. He said he doesn't believe boxing is a real sport because there's not a clear winner. He was speaking on the judging and how a decision isn't decisive. I told him it was the nature of the sport, but for that reason, he was turned off from boxing.

I don't think GGG had any respect for Monroe's power, so felt he could take shots, to land shots. He made 'Big drama show'.

He's hittable, but his defense isn't bad. If he felt that Munroe's power was dangerous early on in the fight, i think he would of been more elusive.

That was the first time i'd seen Monroe fight. I thought he looked pretty good at times. I'd like to see him against some of the other contenders at MW.

Struggling? He was in control of the fight from the first second to the last.

And a boxer taking deep breaths in his corner in between rounds does NOT mean that he is gassed. Did he look gassed when the bell rang for the next round?
