Why would I want to see a middleweight fight a welterweight who weighed 146 in his last fight? GGG is a clown just as much as his dlck riders are.

Because he's a Welterweight, not even a big one at that, and hasn't ever weighed 154, even on fight night, and the fact that he's 38 freaking years old.

It's a little too much to ask him to fight someone 2 weight divisions higher at that age.

GGG ought to be ashamed pushing for this tbh.

Gotcha, the lineal, unified, 2x, 3yr reigning champ is too small and old to face all comers at that weight. I hope he follows up on dropping those belts, cause its beyond overdue

I would be quite happy with GGG/Mayweather at 154, but I would not take the fight very seriously, and I would not be giving Mayweather too much credit for that win.

Boxing has divisions for a reason..... best to keep it that way ^^

Lara, the natural JMW, would be a better challenge for Floyd at 154.
Boxing has divisions for a reason .... and both Lara and Ward are in different divisions than GGG, so ... ?

Apart from the different divisions, there are good reasons why GGG isn't fighting Lara or Ward instead of Monroe.

Ward is the champion at 168, and GGG isn't his mandatory challenger, so the fight can only happen (at 168) if Ward offers GGG a shot at his title, and Ward hasn't done that.

Lara is with Haymon, and GGG is with HBO, who won't work with Haymon unless it's on something very big - like Floyd/Manny.

GGG vs Lara would not be a big fight, by any stretch. And the middleweight "monster" chasing a super welterweight around the ring would do nothing for GGG's reputation or popularity whatsoever.

Coming to GGG and Floyd - Golovkin was asked a dumb question by a reporter during a public workout, and gave a flippant reply. He isn't calling Floyd out and he never has done.

I'm sure GGG/Foyd will never happen. The size difference is too much. Maybe GGG could get down to 154, but at 32 yo, it would be huge gamble for him to try it. As you have said, if he was comfortable at 154, he would be fighting there all the time.

From Floyd's point of view, even a weight drained GGG would only need one chance to take him out, so it would be a gamble for him too. GGG might take that risk, because of the money involved. But Floyd could make more money for less risk and has plenty more options, so it isn't going to happen.

Cause you think he schools him, dumbfcuk. Itd look great on Floyds resume to beat the dominant MW champ even at 154. Like Tito and Oscar tried to do with Hopkins, whos bigger than GGG and probably better. Not that Floyd has to, but since you think easy work, its a fcuking must. Get that bandwagon going bud

              GGG isn't pushing it.

Read the article. All he did was reply to a question asked by a reporter during his public workout.

                Except GGG isn't a 154 pounder. He's a middleweight trying to fight a 38 year old welterweight. Shameful ****.

The willingness to drop to 154 to fight a welterweight doesn't indicate he'd try to make the fight?

                  • LOL.... GGG has been Floyd fanatics' biggest fear for quite some time.

First off, Floyd has been called out by the likes of Ward and Hopkins, at 160. Why? Huge money and exposure. Prizefighting.

Second, GGG is the only guy willing to drop to SWW where Floyd has been holding a belt for 3 years straight and is lineal. Everyone knows dropping weight is hard and a handicap. Enough of a handicap for Floyd to come out on top? I doubt it but lots of dissenting opinions here, mostly from flo mos. Seems like an interesting fight
