Comments Thread For: Manny Pacquiao Should Retire, Advises Penalosa

Former two-division world champion Gerry Penalosa feels his countryman, Manny Pacquiao, should retire from the sport.

Pacquiao, who won eight divisional titles, dropped a twelve round decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. last weekend. During the match he aggravated a pre-existing shoulder injury and underwent surgery last Wednesday.

Now at 36-years-old, Pacquiao has achieved everything possible. The fight with Mayweather is likely going to earn him well over $120 million for his bank account.

Brook, Floyd, or retire. Anything else I won't watch.

Penalosa is right. There's no point anymore unless it's Floyd, and nobody wants to see that again. Brook, Garcia, Broner, etc. they do nothing for his legacy, so what's the point.

Penalosa speaks the truth, unless its a big fight like a rematch with Floyd or maybe kell Brook he should just retire. But knowing Pac, he is cut from the same cloth as obedient boxers Henry Armstrong and Joe Louis men who just fought and let their manager and promoter tel them what to do. Arum will just throw Pac in with anyone and use him as a stepping stone for Jessie Vargas or Terence Crawford in a year or two.

Retiring off a Kell Brook championship victory wouldn't be too bad but I agree it wouldn't do all that much for his legacy.

Sad thing is I think Arum still has plans for Pac.

Floyd only if it is guaranteed 100 million plus. Otherwise, retire.

To be honest both him and TBE have about 1 or 2 fights left. We need them to go, they would be much more appreciated after they have left, but we also need the new younger guys to get their chances at the spotlight.

Paq's performance was as pathetic as Money, both of them should retire and let the younger gen take over.
