In other words, I don't want to see GGG fight a guy who might actually defeat him because he is highly skilled. I just want to put him in with guys who he either beats easily or whose style is tailor made for him.

What has boxing come to when fans are critical of fighters for actually developing skills and using them to win?

Wouldn't showing the ability to overcome and defeat someone like Lara be a plus for GGG?

      He's fighting delvin Rodriguez next.
A fight designed to make Lara look good
      And yet he won't.

It has nothing to do with GGG being in a fight with someone who may beat him and everything to do with just not caring to see Lara in a fight Period.

Lara has mastered the style of non fighting. He rarely ever ever commits to his punches and literally RUNS around the ring.

As stated, I have no issue with defensive fighters so long as they use their defense to set up an effective offense. Fighters who can make you miss and pay without running half way across the damn ring while flicking jabs while in retreat to keep you away from them. I watch boxing to be entertained while appreciating certain skill sets. If your sole purpose is to avoid engaging at all costs, its not something I respect or find entertaining.

        • In the Lara fight, by the 9th round Canelo had him bleeding and running for his life.
After all his talk, all his BS about breaking Canelo's face and Knocking him Out, Lara got in the ring and didn't do $h!t.

He doesn't deserve another big fight against GGG. He can get in line though. There's the Charlo brothers and Andrade. How about a rematch with Vanes or Molina fights you clearly didn't win.

          • sounds good i cant imagine lara avoiding ggg the entire fight tho and still getting the decision but it sure would be interesting.

            • Iiiiinteresting... I'd love to see this happening to be honest! Only way GGG gets Cotto or Canelo in the ring

              • honestly tho when oscar says the future im starting to mean he literally means pac may time like 6 years once ggg is slowing down i would be shocked if he started talking that ggg is the next fight if they beat cotto. I just dont think oscar will do that say for instance ggg fights canelo and completely man handles him knocks him out makes him look foolish it kills canelo. Hes already been exposed by boxers but they use the boring defense but if he were to go in with ggg and get exposed i mean imo that kills canelo stock big time. In saying all that tho i think canelo gives ggg a hell of a fight and if he can stand toe to toe with ggg and hold his own his stock is going to rise back up to ppv status. Its one thing to fight guys like lara and mayweather and trout when people thought you were ducking but ggg is a completely different thing. I could be wrong as well but imo even if they made that fight tomorrow it would be a huge fight. everyone will buy that ppv i would not be surprised if it ended up doing over a million long as they promote it and get espn on their side they could promote it as the "true fight of the century" etc etc

whether you respect it or find it entertaining has no bearing.

Any sport is FIRST and FOREMOST about winning and losing. A great fighter should be able to defeat all styles to prove his greatness. If he can't cut off the ring, find the proper angles to attack, or isn't mentally strong enough to not get frustrated just because A guy doesn't stand in front of him and let him hit him, then maybe he just isn't a great fighter. Iff he loses, so be it.

Your entertainment argument is phony and most of us see right thru it. What if GGG gets caught walking into something and gets KO'd? What if he gets tired from trying to corner Lara and then gets KO'd late?

You just want to see GGG keep KOing guys no matter how inferior they are. Sorry, but some of us want to see him use all his skills to overcome whatever he may face in the ring.

As a paying consumer yes it does. If it happens it happens, but there are much better stylistic and entertaining fights out there for GGG that I'd rather see.

                      GGG/Cotto

                      GGG/Canelo

                      GGG/Ward

                      GGG/Kid Chocalate

Despite Ward being a tactician in the ring, at least we know he wont run for dear life when the going gets tough or to avoid engaging his opponent.
