Usually we do not, but GGG is a unique case.

he can't get the fights he wants-Cotto or Canelo-right now. He will not go up to 168 for the ward fight. SO instead of him bashing no hopers, some of us want to see him in with someone who presents a different challenge to see what he can do.

Lara fits this description. So while I would pick GGG, I think they should fight to confirm this. I mean I could be wrong, like the people that swore Manny was going to destroy Floyd.

I don't think there is any Golovkin fan who is scared Lara beats him. Dude was being tossed around the ring like a rag doll against Angulo for crying out loud. And he's going to move up in weight and beat the best middleweight in the world? Don't think so, man.

The only thing some people might be worried about is Lara stinking up the joint. Me I'm not one of those people because I know how good GGG is at cutting off the ring and there is nothing Lara can do to keep him off him, keep him honest, he just doesn't have the pop to get any respect. I hope this fight can be made just to prove a point, albeit a small point that will be discredited soon after.

      • Cotto won't , Ward can't , Lara's not a middleweight. Yadayadayada and more of the same. At 33 and counting its way past time GGG faced a credible opponent

I think that's the whole point in fighting Monroe instead of Heiland, Johnson and the likes. If you've seen Monroe fight, you'll see he's a talented boxer, a southpaw, that on paper should be an interesting match up. He can give GGG a lot of problems and potentially make him look bad if he sticks to his game plan. I'd say since he's an actual middleweight he's got a better chance than Lara does.

          • GGG too good at cutting off the ring. Only a matter of time before Lara gets popped, in my opinion.

He's obviously faced credible opponents, just not elite opponents yet. Murray was a top ten MW who arguably beat Martinez, Geale who's fighting Cotto next was top ten, Macklin, Rubio and Stevens top ten. Hell, even Proksa was top ten at the time. All these guys were credible opponents when GGG faced them. Obviously what he's lacking is an elite fighter and a big name fighter, to no fault of his own though. He's tried to fight Martinez, Sturm, Cotto, Canelo, etc. He can only fight guys willing.

He doesn't have the experience against quality opponents to do that Natas. Style is fine, but that alone is not enough.

This was similar to the argument fans made about Algieri's chances against Manny. He as well lacked quality opposition.

Lara has far more amateur experience and has more fights against quality professionals that offsets the weight somewhat.

Credible in name yes. I doubt you thought any of them had a chance to win.

That's why so many want him to fight Ward at 168-to see what he will do ina fight against an opponent that actually has a chance to beat him.

In 2 years I think he could've developed into a very solid MW contender but he is not ready for this now. You don't go from Boxcino, to Vera to GGG. There is a progression in boxing that all prospects go through: prospect, to contender to title holder to champion. Monroe is still very much a prospect and hasn't even beaten a ranked contender yet.

Lara has already been through that process and that's why it would have been a much better fight at this stage.

                    • jeez, if the plodding Angulo was able to put Lara on the floor, what do these clowns think GGG would do to him?

Its silly, GGG will ghoul Lara, and 5 minutes after the fight their chants will change from "GGG scared of Lara doe" to "GGG beatin up on smaller guys doe"
