No because kirkland is known for high pressure whereas cotto tends to sit back and fire off combinations then revert back to defense. I see canelo cotto played out in 3 stages

The first stage will be both fighters landed a couple of combinations on each other for the first 4 rounds where cotto will be looking the better fighter with his footwork and movement.

Then canelo will take rounds 5-7 with his pressure as cotto slows and backs against the ropes, from 7 to 10 should be a war as both are tired (stamina issues with both)

canelo will be applying the better pressure and then canelo will ultimately take the last few rounds as cotto is weary and moving backwards while canelo lands a few shots but enough to earn him the rounds.

most likely be 8-4/7-5 in favour of canelo and maybe get a rematch for cinco de mayo 2016

He seemed a little gunshy to begin with but compared to previous fights this was actually a fast start from the ginger kid, he dropped him hard in the second round.
True, and Canelo has a habit of following the opponent's pace, but keeping busy enough to win rounds. Kirkland pressured and Canelo responded. Trout laid back, so did Canelo. He'll keep up with whatever pace Cotto decides to bring. He's not going to try to bum rush Cotto, nor is he going to let him tee off. Canelo was measuring Kirkland the whole time, putting him in his place when necessary, and ended the show when the time was right. He treated many other guys with a similar approach and will beat Cotto the same way, with caution, measurement, and power.

Knocking somebody down in the first round and nearly stopping him at the bell of the 1st round is a slow start? GTFOH flowmoe you just don't like Canelo. Go watch your idols 48 sparring sessions.

People are drinking the Canelo Kool Aid and forgetting Canelo is a very basic fighter with a lot of holes. Cotto wont come foward and let Canelo hit his body at will. Cotto will circle to his left away from Canelo left hook firing his jab and going in and out with combinations. Canelo doesnt fight every minute of every round, he fights in spurts and throws a low out put of punches because of his stamina issues.

All Cotto has to do is use his superior boxing skills and come in great condition and the fight will be his. Canelo only looks good against come foward fighters like Angulo and Kirkland.

If it happens Cotto will surprise on how easy he handles Canelo.

Lara did great and so did Trout. canelo is not the world beater people make him out to be. He went 9 rounds with Cottos brother who is a lightweight and got rocked, he whent 12 with mathew Hatton, 12 with an old Shane Mosley, 12 with a shot to pieces Ndou like 7 years after Cotto beat Ndou, 12 with ryan rhodes. Canelo aint all that just because he beat a china chin Kirkland doesnt mean he is the next big thing.

I want this fight to happen because it will expose how limited Canelo is and how superior is Cotto.
