That was exactly what I expected. Alvarez is way too good for Kirkland. Great KO.

Great performance from Canelo, however I knew that Kirkland is tailor made for him, but anyways it was a nice performance! I hope he fights Cotto and Golovkin next, I wouldn't write him off against Golovkin, actually I think it would be a close fight with either one come out as a winner at the end and against Cotto I would favour Canelo.

PS: Please people don't try to be so smart and don't tell advises to Kirkland such as "He needs to go back to Ann Wolfe". I guess he had his reasons why he left her, we don't know what are those reasons but maybe they are legit reasons and Kirkland is a grown-up man who an decide about his coach if he feels to do so. So without any background information, please don't give him advices.

None of these guys at 154 should be trying to beat Canelo in a gun fight. Canelo is physically bigger than all of them, he has real power and physical strength and he is very capable of landing some beautiful and accurate power shots.

Kirkland has power, but you need speed against Canelo. He was getting beat to the punch and taking some absolute bombs straight on the chin.

Good performance by Canelo, and he'll do that to any of the other power first fighters at 154.

Kirkland needs an iron chin to support this style but he doesn't have one

I don't get those punch stats. Kirkland seemed to be outlanding Canelo by a landslide. Hardly any were slipped or caught on the gloves. Kirkland kept on getting him against the ropes and throwing in short slow hooks against his head.

that punching bag was putting pressure on canelo from the southpaw stance and with fast hands. that's not easy to deal with.

canelo is a very good fighter. the jury is still out on whether or not he can be great. i still think speed and elusiveness will trouble himi enouhg to keep him from true greatness, but he'll still be an ambassador for the sport and in great fights.

canelo is the genuine article. people need to understand that.

unless you're blindingly fast, timing will beat speed. canelo has great offensive timing. he knows where your chin will be in spite of the fact that his hands don't get htere right away, and his feet aren't lightning fast to get him into position.
