Lomachenko exemplifies the sweet science, not Floyd or Rigo

  • I think Rigo is the most overrated fighter in boxing. He has plenty of holes in his defence and has been slapped around the ring and dropped by C and D level fighters. He has some great skills, but some big flaws.

For some reason people tend to ignore that or not allowed to talk about it. Like when Cotto got schooled by Trout, it gets erased from history like a dirty secret, like when i ****** my cousin.

    • Loma has good balance of offense/ defense.

He's one of the few fighters out there who uses his skill to entertain instead of just low risk, low volume boxing.

      • I agree, mayweather is probably the most boring negative atg fighter ever. He uses a lot of cheap defensive tactics that sucks the excitement out of any fight. Lara is another one, i hate watching that guy fight(run). Lomachenko is what boxing is all about.

I dont know but stepping in a boxing ring over 500 times in his life and ONLY losing two times is ****ing amazing!
I think he looks fantastic, but doing it against p4p level talent is a whole different ball game. The other two fighters mentioned have done it. Him, not yet. I have no doubt that he will, but let's wait until then.

Let's put it like this: Rigo is the smaller guy in nearly every fight. He fought a japanese c fighter with a MASSIVE reach advantage and weight.

The ONE time Lomachenko faced a bigger guy he lost. That simple.

This isn't to put Lomachenko down, a p4p top 3 in the making, but rather you need to put Rigo in perspective. Imagine Lomachenko fighting at his walk/fight day weight, 135.

            • He's very skilled and you can see this guy is just a natural from so much experience at the amateur level. Overall I like his style a great deal, I'm just not a big fan of volume punchers who lack a big shot. It's almost like a video game spamming shots that aren't taking away much from the health bar of the opponent lol.

              • Who was he fighting? Exactly.

Loma is very good but lets just not get carried away........

Dude too much info nobody needs to know that last bit.

Another guy who is a mix of both is Keith Thurman. He has great balance of offense and defense. He isn't as slick as Loma or fast but he can box and brawl.

But to act like Walters wouldn't have a shot of beating Rigo is also ridiculous. Walters could very well knock Rigo out cold. Walters is probably the hardest punching Featherweight in a long time. He might even put Loma down and out. He just needs to land one good punch. Granted, both Loma and Rigo would probably outbox him and make him look silly but it takes one punch, brother.
This is what I don't understand though, other Rigo fans say "Oh Rigo would destroy Lomachenko and Walters" yet nobody else but me wants to see Rigo move up and prove that. Why won't Rigo dare to be great? You could say that he is small and all that, but Loma and Walters will only outweigh him by 10 pounds or less. There are several fighters even today that overcome those odds. Lomachenko (my favorite boxer), I'm sure will move up and fight fighters that out weigh him by over 10 pounds, I would welcome those challenges because if you're really that great you will prove it not just talk about it. Mayweather and Pacquiao have been doing it for the last decade or so.

I'm not hating on Rigondeaux, I think this dude is a genius. I remember watching him during the 2004 Olympics and loved his style.
Punchers chance is not something his management will risk his future paydays over, when there are plenty of good fights for Walters with people who will stand and **** with him like Mares.

Rigo for his part has been legitimately trying to get the very deep talent pool of his division to fight him, to no avail, so its really not fair to even consider talking about him needing to move up. Santa Cruz already moved up to avoid him, Frampton is avoiding him like the plague, so is Quigg, Mares ran up a division. He wants to unify, and rightfully so.

I am sure he will move up eventually, but right now his problem is everyone avoiding him, and I don't think people would stop just because he moved up a division.

Loma vs Rigo would be an ATG fight though that needs to happen. That is #1 fight on my wishlist.

The two men who have the claim to be the greatest amateur technicians of all time, who have as skill set that is on a different level to everyone else in the world, Floyd included, facing off against each other. It would be awesome. Time is slipping away though. Rigo is on the tail end of his prime, if not already slipping out of it.
