Cotto got a voluntary first that's what the Geale fight is, a voluntary. And you're on crack if you think the WBC won't make GGG wait another one or even two fights for that belt if the names Mayweather or Canelo pop up as opponents.

The reason he went from Rios to Bradley to K-9 was because once he 2 faced Top Rank all those fights with Top Rank fighters were off the table. Then Top Rank tried to steal K-9 as an opponent for one of their fighters and Cotto moved on to Heiland. Once Heiland's name came out at that point is when HBO came out saying they will not air his next fight unless he agrees to fight Canelo next. HBO had NOTHING to do with Rios, Bradley or K-9 fights falling through. That was all Top Rank fallout. But since switching to Geale instead of Heiland I have seen nothing reported that HBO is no longer insisting Cotto fights Canelo next. If it's in one of the thousands of articles please post a link confirming this

The 160 belt won't happen unless GGG steps aside which does'nt seem likely to me.

Does it make it hard to sleep at night knowing Mayweather is a 5-time lineal champion through 4 weight classes? This fight could make him 6 times lineal through 5 weights.

No matter how deep the hate, you gotta admit that's astonishing. I mean take a look at De La Hoya, he won a world title in 6 weight classes, but he was only lineal in 1. Mayweather has won titles in 5 weight classes. He's been lineal in 4 of 5. Twice in one of them.

          C'mon son.

So then Cotto would basically go 2 years without ever properly defending his belt? A more likely scenario is if Mayweather pays GGG step aside money to avoid vacating. Even if he fights Canelo I'm all for it being a non title fight. It would really be a total farce to make this or Canelo a MW title fight. Neither of those guys are real MW's and the fight likely would be at 154-156 well below MW limit.

Won't happen. Cotto will either fight GGG or vacate. There will be no shennanigans. Doing what you are saying would make the WBC look horrible. Go look at the WBC rules and you will see that there would be some serious ****ing going on if they try to make GGG wait. It specificaly says that GGG would have to step aside and the terms of the step aside deal have to be revealed to the WBC. And if the Floyd fight is what they want him to step aside for, I'm asking for 10 million plus if I'm GGG or take your ass whoopin.

The rules of the WBC clearly state that things can change at any time when they want it to. You guys must be new to boxing.

Also, whoever said Cotto has to fight Canelo next on HBO is flat out wrong, period. Because it's not true at all, it's an option but there is no contract.

I always love the comment of "you must be new to boxing" when someone disagrees. Anyways. The writing is on the wall. The way this has all unfolded Cotto/Floyd or CottoCanelo for the lineal belt is'nt happening unless GGG allows it. If that is even what Floyd wants to do. And if Canelo was somehow what the WBC wanted they could of manuvered long before now to make it look legit for Cotto to fight Canelo for the belt instead of spending the last year pushing GGG.

"HBO is not interested in the fight because they view more like the fight Cotto had with Delvin Rodriguez," the source continued. "But they are willing to accept it if their conditions are met - that a fight with Canelo is signed. So they are going to try to make the fight."

I'll ask again post a link showing that once Cotto changed to fighting Geale that HBO dropped the request that he doesn't have to fight Canelo next. Because so far you are the only person who is saying that. I find it hard to believe that HBO would refuse to pay for Heiland fight without a deal for Canelo and then drop it for Cotto to fight the exact same caliber of fighter in Geale.
