Cotto is out of luck with a a Mayweather rematch. Rock Nation and Al Haymon will NEVER work together. Based on Floyd earlier comments about picking a solid fighter for his last hurrah, I see him picking Kell Brook in September. Bob Arum currently has an eye on Kell for Manny, but he won't be able to match the money Mayweather will pay him.

I don't think Floyd will be in another mega-fight, the last one flopped so badly in terms of entertainment

Ever since Floyd came back from retirement the collision course with Pacquiao was the main marketing. It was a good job Canelo was there when Pacquiao was KO'd by Marquez. Even then, the Pacquiao fight was still on the horizon albeit losing most of its shine

It'll be interesting to see how well Floyd's next fight does. Theres no mega-fight to build up to anymore, noone disputes Floyds claim to the best fighter of the generation now. Theres really only a Pacquiao rematch that would capture at least some of the landscapes imagination, with the 'shoulder injury' as the selling point.
I agree. Assuming that Mayweather will want maximum money in his last fight then he will sell a Pacquiao rematch. They will talk up that shoulder injury until most fans buy into the theory that the first fight wasn't fair. And if Mayweather HIMSELF claims it wasn't a fair first fight then we have the foundation for a marketable rematch. Mayweather won't really believe any of the crap but he will say it simply to hype the fight. He will say anything if it means more PPV buys.

He will only go for Cotto if he feels that the middleweight belt will add to his legacy and he feels he can't properly sell a Pacquiao rematch.

This rematch would be bonkers. Floyd going for 3 lineal titles simultaneously. Lineal in 5 different divisions in his career and world champion in 6 different divisions.

Khan and Thurman pale in comparison. Also this fight is guaranteed to do 1M+ PPV, unlike Khan and Thurman.

This fight #1 on my wish list for Floyd in September. Stay tuned.

The Middleweight belt puts Floyd on Mt. Olympus

Floyd winning the Middleweight Title at 160lbs and retiring puts Floyd on Boxing Mount Olympus as a Boxing God and a legend forever in Boxing lore. Cotto cannot get any 10 opponents to equal one Floyd fight. This fight would be another $400 million attraction. Plus the Puerto Ricans will go crazy over Cotto vs Floyd. No brainer as this was the plan all along. DUH? Floyd retiring at Middleweight Champion and never fighting above 152 lbs what a hoot?

Who cares about how bonkers it would be? Is Jay Z and Haymon, sworn enemies, going to work together?

Noway is Haymon going to allow Roc to copromote such a huge fight. So lots stop ****ing around, with BS. It's going to be another Haymon fighter, like Thurman or Khan, or a potentially a Pac rematch.

Cotto is not getting the Floyd fight, and frankly, as a middleweight Cotto should be ashamed of himself. The Canelo fight will happen though, that is as far as he is willing to push himself these days.

Slow minded fanboys eventually agree on Floyd becoming grand master over the mockup MW lineal belt.

Not going to happen. Even if Mayweather were to agree to this and win, critics would still demand he fight Golovkin or some other popular middleweight to PROVE he is true middleweight champion. It's a never ending cycle of having to prove his greatness to those who feel his accomplishments will never be enough.
