Go and rewatch Mayweater-Hatton 24-7, he talks about it there when he see's the specialist for his hand and joint problems. Interesting stuff.

Floyd's so far passed it now it's ridiculous and pretty astonishing that he's still on top of the sport.

No way could he fight until 50. He would struggle to make 40.

It's impossible to fight at the top level for 30 years. You just can't do it.

All the fighters with the best longevity always come to the end after 20 or so years. That isn't a coincidence.

Mayweather, Pacquaio, Hopkins, Moore, etc etc etc the list goes on and on.
It's his freaking ring IQ. It's astonishing. He is still able to predict what his opponents will throw and how best to not only avoid it, but avoid it in ways that don't allow follow up attacks, in ways that very, very few could ever compare with. That defense allows him to get away with only landing what punches he needs to take a round.

The proof is in the pudding as they say....Floyd in near prime would never have been touched up by Madianna. I remember watching instant replay of him smiling as a punch wizzes by his grill! less than an inch as he counters....

With all the hoopla if this fight had happened in prime time Pac would have been thrashed imo.

Floyd has grown accustomed to hundreds of millions. A luxurious lifestyle and ******** will keep him coming back for more.

Probably will take a year or two off but he will return.

The thing is, we're saying he's declined. Is it not a testament to how remarkable he is that even in decline, he's on top and still looks miles ahead of the field?

Think of Oscar's decline between his fight with Floyd and Pac (Yes I know about the catchweight etc, but still)

Yeah his IQ is through the roof. Defintely one of the best of all time.

It's almost to a point where it's not fair.

Mayweather has been fighting very good competition, I say he has a couple of good performances left in him but if he were to have a pretty successful career in his early 40s at least, that would require cherry picking. I say leave on top, undefeated with the level of opposition he's faced, fuckin' impressive. Things never go the way most of us want though so

Circling the ring, changing directions and grabbing when bouncing off the ropes to stifle an attack, then throwing an occasional right hand isn't rocket science. But a pathological desire not to get hit greatly helps.

In general, boxers just last longer than brawlers. Mayweather's defensive style ages very well. He controls the pace of the fight. But Floyd's lack of punching power prevents him from fighting as long as Hopkins, IMO. He can adopt Hopkins' dirty tricks, but he needs the power to put an opponent down. Enter Memo Heredia and his PEDs. So I see Floyd fighting into his 40s.

Even if Floyd attempts at another retirement, I believe he'll come back. There's nothing out there for him other than more trouble. He's soo disliked publicly. I can't see him just being the face of Mayweather Promotions and basically being "third" in command after Haymon and let's face it..Richard Schaefer. Floyd doesn't seem the type to retire and live quietly either like Hagler. Even if SHO gives him an analyst job, would it satisfy him? Boxing is his life.
