I've said for years that Cotto's strategy against Floyd was excellent. Especially the way he dealt with Floyd when he got him to the ropes. Had he not ran out of steam after that big effort in the 8th it would have been up for grabs on my card at least. Judges didn't seem to feel the same way though.

But honestly who cares at this point. The sport needs Floyd, Manny, Cotto etc. to go away and let a new generation emerge.

Could say the same for Cotto. Scrap Cotto vs Canelo, that fight can always happen further down the line.

Don't want Cotto wasting the last few fights of his career on guys who don't want to fight, geale,Canelo, then a farewell fight in PR.

I don't wanna see Floyd vs Cotto again, the first fight was competitive in patches but not close, I think you can give Cotto 3 rounds at most.

Rather see Floyd fight someone new like Thurman, Brook or Porter

We need to come up with a way to shrink him.
He is a little slow I admit, but I just don't think speed is the key to beat Floyd. It's, like you said, pressure and a jab. Basics.

Floyd's opponents seem to overthink and always come up with some ridiculous game plans. Like Oscar or Castillo, stick to basics, 101, jab that ****er to death.

If you try to out think, or (even worse) outbox Floyd Mayweather, you've already lost.

Mend fences with Top Rank and Roc Nation all in 1 year?

              Let's not get greedy.

Thurman, Brook and Porter probably don't win 3 rounds combined though.

Brook is somewhat interesting but meh
Other two I don't see causing any problems at all.

Con Time and Porter especially get picked apart. Porter is awful. He'd get jabbed to death all night and tied up

Cotto I agree is a threat but Floyd figured him out late in that fight. He's too smart and adjusts too well to lose in rematches.
No, I've watched that fight to death and dan is right. Floyd didn't adjust, Cotto just ran out of steam. Watch the 8th and 9th rounds and observe the difference. Floyd doesn't do anything different, Cotto is just too tired to keep cutting the ring off and prevent Floyd from escaping when he backs him onto the ropes.

The more important point is that the judges weren't really impressed with what Cotto was doing and scored the fight much wider in Floyd's favour than it should have been. That suggests to me that Cotto wouldn't win a rematch either, especially as Floyd would be better prepared for the challenges Cotto would bring and would hold Cotto a lot more when he was backed up.

But have no doubts, if Floyd hangs around a new threat will emerge, that's the nature of boxing. And if he hangs around long enough someone will beat him.

But I'd much rather see him go. The scene needs renewal, not more of the same.

Why. He would get ****d if he was smaller. Ggg is not an amazing boxer he's just very strong.

Cotto is the only guy out with the strength and skill set to beat mayweather. Not saying he will he has a good chance of his conditioning is right. Everyone else has zero chance.
