kicks to the legs, knees to the midsection, and punches upstairs is the best way to go.

Either way, Punches > than Kicks, period!

    That boxer ******...

Kind Arthur Williams (The "Boxer" on the video) Didn't even KO half of the bums that he fought? Stick that Kickboxer in their with a REAL boxer! Get Wlad in their, or Sam Peter, maybee Big George but that's just asking for a ring death.
Then we will see who is getting knocked down...or killed!

I don't think that anyone on earth can kick as hard as what Foreman, Shavers, and Cooney can punch.
Just think, the kicks are nothing but raw bone hitting and can't get the type of leverage that a puncher's punches can. The punches that Foreman, Shavers, and Cooney killed people with had 12 ounce gloves wrapped around them...

rwk, thanks, for the great clips bro. didn't know that they had genki up on googlevideo. my fave next to the gracie hunter.

anyways, you're definitely alright in my book. as a fighter yourself, your opinion definitely deserves respect. there's not a lot of us who do semi-hard contact to full contact fighting/sparring. especially in MA where there is a risk of injuries in a great variety of ways. i, personally haven't fought in an "officially certified" competitions yet, but many of us do and have. and i certainly have my plans as well.

it's good to know that there are more than just a few of us here that have an active interest in sport fighting/self defence instead of just watching it on tv. if you have or plan on participating in a certified sport comp, you have my best wishes. and feel free to PM me if you have any questions about stand up fighting - as it is what i specialize in.

xion, an old school street fighting technique i picked up is exactly the opposite as what you described. feint a kick, followed by a hard committed overhand punch. you might be surprised at how many times it has worked against the average joe.

Great, Ill write it down *Pulls out a peice of paper....Mumbles to the guy sitting next to him, "Got a pen?", "Thanks!"....Writes it down!*

Lol I never had any fight classes, But yeah I can see that being extremely effective! I guess you flinch the leg, he looks down and BAM he's out!

xion, you forgot to mention about vitali klitschko. he was a four time kickboxing champ with an extremely impressive record. i've seen vk do everything from spinning back fists, breathtaking kicks to the mid-section that literally launched opponents across the ring, to straight up boxing in his KB career. he was younger, in his late teens and early twenties at the time that he was a kickboxer. and, man, let me tell you that he was an absolute monster back then. thinner, maybe a bit shorter, and more athletic during those years. he was really something else.

this is why i say vitali was a "great" fighter. combined with his KB and boxing career, he had gained recognition as one of the best and made it to the top in both fighting sports.

Someone who is not trained to recieve kicks....will try and block them with their hands: Big no no.

A fighter who expects kicks simply raises his leg to fold position in order to reinforce the area and accept the blow.

Thats smart, legs are usually bigger than arms *Foreman's...lol geez!* and aren't covered at the ankles, I can imagine that screwing up your arms pretty quick and making them numb or breaking them.

I guess this is the same case as when fighters would cover up exposing their elbows to Rocky Marciano and he broke their arms...****** people! lol

But how do you keep from getting taken down like what kept happening to the Boxer in this video? If he folded his leg up to take the kick he would have just fell over when the kicker kicked the one leg he was standing on! Freaking pogostick! lol

yea ive seen that move happen before in street fights, haha its pretty ****in kool. Kicks are only effective if theyre low from the midsection down to the legs. Legs are heavier than punches which is also why theyre not as good for most people when they try to kick to the head it takes too much time to get ur foot up that high unless ur really really really well trained and are fast with ur kicks. Leg kicks are almost as effective if not more than regular body body shots, especially since theres less of a chance to catch them with ur hands.

let him take you down, but pull him down in the process. The minute your leg is swept from underneath you...there is a split second when he's off balance. Get to a knee quick, and clinch his midsection and tackle his ass.

If you fall on your back...lift your knee when he tries to mount and shift all your weight to either side...to dismount him.

True, no need to expose yourself hitting to the body if your body kick is harder and better I guess...Noone can kick to the body like Gerry Cooney can punch to it though...
