During Floyd fight vs Tony Duran on ESPN, Emmanuel Steward said he will go on to be the best ever. Is that also his promoter hat talking ?

People know what time it is, they know deep down Floyd is TBE but they're turned off by his antics, and so they lie to themselves.

Also people tend to romantize anything from the past. Like if it occurred during black and white TV its automatically superior to today.

If Ali was fighting right now, he would be torched for his notorious clinching and holding opponents necks down on the ropes. But because this happened in the 60s, it's now beautiful to watch.

Ali was the clinch god similar to Wladimir. But look at how fans torch Wlad but praise Ali.

Sugar Ray Robinson fought at a time boxers fought like every two weeks against certified bums. Check his boxrec, at least 90 of his opponents have 15+ losses.

If Floyd faces anybody with that record, would he be praised like Robinson or torched.

Like I said, people just love anything that's old. For example there's folks who say 80s movies were the best and everything today sucks. Same with boxing.

If there was a book written called How To Box, Floyd would be the only fighter needed to study. He is the closest thing to perfection you'll ever see in an athlete. And he's dominating at an age where Ali, Leonard and those guys were already finished.

So just bring these old fighters back today and wonder what people would say

    Ali the clincher
    Leonard the runner
    Duran the flat footed plodder

That's what you would hear. 20 years from now Floyd's greatness will be truly appreciated.

Mayweather may well be the better boxer and technician per say but as a fighter, his resume and contribution to the sport isnt even close.

You may hear about his greatness from his current admirers, that's true. But you may also hear stuff like this, from other people not so keen on his fighting style:

                Floyd the never-penalized clincher
                Floyd the never-penalized elbow-using cheater
Floyd the most boring and cowardly P4P champ of all time
                Floyd the runner
                Floyd the catch-weight master
                Floyd the #1 out-of-prime-champ defeater
                Floyd the never-fighting-outside-Vegas champ
Floyd the undefeated champ who actually lost to Castillo
Floyd the champ who waited for his top opponent to be out of his prime and KO'd unconscious by someone else before fighting him at home in Vegas no less, with his chosen referee, judges, gloves and everything else

The one who is missing the point is you. People don't think Arum had a change of mind; they're highlighting his propensity to lie when it suits his agenda.
