Running is just footwork aspect of boxing, has little do do if you throw punches or not...seems like I know more than you however.Comment

If I was 6'3 I wouldn't be 210 pounds I would be much bigger and compact...ali in the 70's was so...he planted on his shots more and had better accuracy with them despite the less mobility, this was due also to bigger faster 70's guys....he was more gifted with the footwork but do you think his less girth of the 60's would have beat the better 70's fighters? This isn't the debate I was just looking and see many boxing historians classify him as a runner type style.ali used his legs a hell of a lot more in the 60's.
after his layoff, he generally couldn't fight on his toes for such extended durations.
trust me, if you were 6'3", moved like a welterweight, had 80 inches of reach, and fought gigantic punchers, you'd use the ring too.Comment

People saying people today would hate Ali? yeah ****in right.
Anyone with common sense would probably be fascinated to see a 215 6'3 heavyweight glide around the ring with more flexibility and agility than a lightweight.
Guys like Crawford and Algieri wish they could move like Ali.Comment

Ali moved so well on his feet, he could dictate when engagement would happen. On his terms. Total ring generalship. "Running" connotes escaping exchanges as much as possible. Think Cotto after he got knocked down by Pacquiaio. At some point he just stayed the hell away to avoid further punishment.
Moving well is not running.
Playing it safe to avoid getting KTFO when you are losing the fight is running.
Floyd is not a runner. He's a superb boxer who lands punches on opponents without sustaining damage. People can't hit him clean.Comment

He was hit all the time? And again Runner style is not evading throwing punches it is simply footwork...this will be my last reply my common sense meter on this topic is used up,except if new England posts!Ali moved so well on his feet, he could dictate when engagement would happen.
