Agreed with most posts here ,however it seems many are calling Alis footwork boxing ,boxing is the art of the sport not a direct skill. The skills combined is what makes the fighter .not the term boxing .Comment

he could do it all, he could use footwork and outbox you on the outside, or he could stand toe to toe and fight with you. Running is when you just move and dont throw punches, whoever you are arguing with dont know **** about boxing lol.Comment

no not really. ali was more dancing/floating around the ring while shooting out sharp quick combinations. it was very graceful what prime ali could do.Comment

Based on how ****** today's boxing fans are, in this ERA he would be considered a "RUNNER" as would Willie Pep. Jack Johnson would be considered a "Dirty Cheater" because of his Clinching and Inside Fighting
Yeah that exposes how IGNORANT some of today's boxing fans are!Comment

It depends, but generally I think he used his feet to set up his work. I don't think there's a problem with that, but people would call him a mover(Or even a runner) nowadays, which I think is different than a flat out runner.
A runner to me is someone like Miguel Vazquez, or how Lara decided to move away from Canelo at times in his fight unnaturally. Ali will lead and engage with you.Last edited by Biolink; 04-22-2015, 12:03 PM.Comment

Yep people use him now because hes retired n sick.....and to seem unbiased towards certain kind of fighters when making their arguments... we all see through it but its funny to watch. the majority of them who went crazy when floyd said he was better than Ali have only seen highlites of him on youtube smh
if he was the top fighter in the heavyweight division right now he would definately be hated on BSceneComment

ali used his legs a hell of a lot more in the 60's.
after his layoff, he generally couldn't fight on his toes for such extended durations.
trust me, if you were 6'3", moved like a welterweight, had 80 inches of reach, and fought gigantic punchers, you'd use the ring too.Comment
