Well that's true. But Haymon signed Chavez Jr. to try and get as much money out of him as possible.

After all, that's really all you can do with someone like him. Put him in with smaller, over matched opponents and reap the benefits from his built in fan base who will pay to watch him fight because of his name.

In the end, Haymon put him in with a fighter with a small name, who was just as big as him, on a smaller network, and Chavez Jr.'s fans turned against him by throwing beer at him at the end of the fight.

In the end the hardcore fans got what they wanted. Bob got what wanted (although he probably won't admit it). Haymon and Showtime did NOT get what they wanted.

Wow. So much hate for Boxing Royalty.

Its too bad Chavez Jr is young, rich and an ethnic minority otherwise he would most definitely be a fan favorite.

Least anyone forgot the Vera weight debacle, questionable decision, and drug suspension (all under Top Rank) is what caused Chavez Jr to lose a lot of fan support. Saturday's fight just destroyed the little fans he had left

Maybe Haymon is more protective of his american boxers ...Chaves is one of his few high profile latino fighters and Haymon messed up the matchmaking on the very 1st fight.

Yeah Al and whoever his matchmaker is messed up on this one. They should have just rolled with their Bread and butter... Pay a super welterweight to fight at 168, you know a salka, have Jr look like a monster.. Profit.

Bet Espinoza is besides himself today. Heard that Chavez Jr is a showtime fighter. Stephen too dumb to realize that Haymon using him and that showtime budget. Pay for respective fights... Not fighters

Bob sounds ******! So Al should have kept putting Chavez in there with smaller guys too??? I'm glad he fought at 170 plus pounds and got his ass whopped!! And what's all this talk about Mexican fighters don't quit??? Jr quit the same way all the other Mexican fighters who have quit in the past. Right on the stool!!!

he clearly couldn't even make 168 lol even after defeat he was talking bout rematch at 170

Good Point ! If he had just let GGG pummel him , no one would of batted an eye , but since it was Fanfara , many were surprised .
