It's a sad situation but I'm glad Sergio isn't kidding himself.

When your knees are done, you are done. You don't recover those. Your knees and your neck are not to be tested. I hope he doesn't take another fight.

I understand not wanting to go out on that Cotto fight, but I honestly believe the exact same scenario would play out against a far lesser opponent if he tried to take a "gimme" fight to go out with a win.

At least Cotto is a hall of famer, definitely shouldn't go back out and lose to a nobody.

Cotto fights and beats Martinez "his a cherry picker, he's a fake middleweight, he is a diva" but alot of people on here wanted martinez to fight ggg injuries and all. So let that soak in for a little bit. Also let's remember as well someone always complaining about catch weight, but last time I remember middleweight started at 155, 160 being that weights limit...
I'll speak for myself on my opinion. Nobody hates cotto, nobody really thinks it was a bad idea on his part but we all know that he knew what he was getting into. The WBC was salivating over stripping sergio of his belts because of his innactivity and was a cnt hair away from stripping him. This wasn't a fight he took because he wanted it, he faced either being stripped or getting a big check so he went with the highest bidder. Can't begrudge either man for capitalizing on it. The problem lays in the reality versus the perceived discrediting of Cotto and Sergio. There are people who ignore those facts and want to leave the perception that it wasn't the reality that one guy wasn't medically cleared to even jog but was being pressured into fighting or resume his career from scratch when he healed if he ever healed. Sergio himself said it "If I had my choice i'd give my leg more time". How he passed a physical is beyond anyone's comprehension but he wanted and needed that check. He got his check and cotto got the belts. The rest has been created by fans who want to make it seem like both men came into this fight at their prime which even the biggest lovers and detractors of both men know is far from the truth. It hasn't helped that one side is acting like it's the greatest win ever.

Is he still seeing that psychiatrist helping him with the Cotto loss?

Def agree with you my friend, and def see your points, it just kinda sucks that sometimes you go in these threads and read stuff and some replies be insane.. I always look at this sport no matter who it is wether it is elite champions or tomatoe cans I always watch the fights with respect cause it takes guts to get in a ring with anybody and not know what happens.. So I just look at boxing now like forget all the little details and just enjoy the show.. And I tell you all the same thing don't pay no mind to all the circus before the fight and just enjoy the show... On another note, kudos to Martinez for getting in there with cotto despite career ending injuries and fighting like a true champion, hopefully cotto honors that championship and give his fans and the boxing world what they want to see by the end of the year which would be ggg.

You can't really repair a meniscus, they just cut away the torn part so it doesn't catch. It sounds like his are completly worn down to a bone on bone condition. Father time is undefeated so Martinez needs to realize that he is too old for this and retire. He had a great career for a guy who started boxing later than most.

He made a smart business decision which was best for Miguel "a-side" Cotto.

The win is meaningless though and yes his fanbase likes to compensate because anytime he fights a prime, healthy man, at the top level of the sport he gets beaten.

Because Miguel Cotto is also in his prime too, right? I think that's the thing people seem to forget. Cotto's prime ended in 2008. Dude has been past prime for a loooong time now.
