Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez is Still Being Held Back By Injuries

Former WBC super welterweight and middleweight champion, Argentinian Sergio ”Maravilla” Martinez, wants a farewell fight but his injuries are hampering him.

“I want to keep boxing, but this injuries are complicating even my daily life. I only will fight if I feel better,” commented Sergio during an interview by TyC Sports of Argentina.

Sergio is now dedicated to the artistic world, and sadly the dream of having a farewell fight is receding.

“My meniscus are crashed. I have to wear insoles on my shoes to walk correctly, and not to feel pain. So Far now I can't go back to train. I want to keep boxing, but these injuries are more complicated than we expected. During the next weeks I think I will be able to make a decision. I don’t seeing myself in the ring without being in the best possible shape to face a good rival. Honestly, I am not interested in another way, as I don’t want to be disrespectful to my fans." That just shows us how great King Miguel Cotto is. Martinez was in his prime looking great and healthy as ever, but Cotto wrecked him so bad, Martinez is still hurting.

Well, at least that's what a Cotto fan told me, so it must be true.

The "decision" was made right after the Jr fight, but he ignored it.

No injuries doe. Wait until he comes back and dominates to prove it doe.

I really don't want Martinez to go out losing to someone worse than Cotto. If he can't find an uber cream puff for a retirement fight, I hope he is well off enough outside the ring to walk away.

From what I saw of his knee in the Cotto bout, Sergio should never fight again. That knee is beyond repair, and there is no denying it.

Tragic end to an ATG. Please retire Sergio, your body has defeated you, not an opponent in the ring.

"Cotto hit him so hard, the shockwave traveled down his legs and shattered his knees"

                    A Delusional Cotto fan!
