Sergio is now dedicated to the artistic world, and sadly the dream of having a farewell fight is receding.

“My meniscus are crashed. I have to wear insoles on my shoes to walk correctly, and not to feel pain. So Far now I can't go back to train. I want to keep boxing, but these injuries are more complicated than we expected. During the next weeks I think I will be able to make a decision. I don’t seeing myself in the ring without being in the best possible shape to face a good rival. Honestly, I am not interested in another way, as I don’t want to be disrespectful to my fans." I don't really understand some of the replies in here, injuries or not Martinez was the lineal champion when cotto beat him.. I do understand why some people bash cotto for some of his choices, but anybody in their right mind woulda taken the opportunity cotto had specially when he was making history. Cotto fights and beats Martinez "his a cherry picker, he's a fake middleweight, he is a diva" but alot of people on here wanted martinez to fight ggg injuries and all. So let that soak in for a little bit. Also let's remember as well someone always complaining about catch weight, but last time I remember middleweight started at 155, 160 being that weights limit...

In retrospect this was an almost sickening cherry pick by cotto, he blew up delvin rodriguez and beat his ass to test the waters at middleweight, only to fight sergio one knee in the grave martinez for the lineal middleweight belt. Then a year later he hasnt defended it, ducks canelo and ggg, tries to weasel his way into a mayweather fight almost spoiling the may pac fight that all fans want to see, and now hes fighting geale at a catchweight. i only hope we never have to see him on 24/7 again in pink panties and doing god knows what else.

Sad to see, but it was obvious he was done after Chavez. His knees were completely gone.

I don't even know if his knees would make it through 12 rounds of a farewell fight.

Sounds like a proud guy who is now claiming he fought blind with no knee caps and a broken back. I am not buying it. He got rocked when he tried that journeyman-killa science on Cotto. Cotto is nothing like Chavez Jr. Sergio had to pay.

          War Cotto

I don't have much of a problem with what Cotto did. It's just the people who actually rate the win so highly.

Sergio had two rounds of knee surgery BEFORE he fought Cotto.

He doesn't know when to quit. Chavez Junior should have been the end.

I've read he walks with a cane, but still wants to come back.
