The Fighters choose, NOT Haymon! I'm sure Chavez Jr was given a list of fighters and him and his Team likely picked Fonfara.

Fonfara is with Haymon as well so I'm sure nobody is upset Fonfara won. Fonfara gives them another guy at 175 to match up with Beterbeiv and Stevenson. Would love to see Stevenson vs Fonfara II that first fight was a good fight. Fonfara would also be a great step up/test for Beterbeiv as well

I don't think many people are "complaining" that about the match-making.

They're questioning why Haymon apparently fought so hard to get Chavez Jr., and how much money he supposedly paid him and Top Rank, to then have him lose his first fight.

I'm sure part of the reason the fight was made was just of of convenience (Haymon had both JCC Jr. and Fonfara, they'd both had notable fights on cable, so it was easy to make and get onto SHO).

It just sees like Haymon didn't know what he was signing with Chavez.

He knew exactly what he was getting.

It really was a strange match-up. My guess is that they simply underestimated Fonfara in the same way that they did Herrera for Danny. Perhaps Haymon, as wise as he may be as a business man, is not a great boxing mind. I mean seriously, who in their right mind would put together Garcia-Salka at that catchweight? Even if you were trying to tip the scales in your guy's favor you could find a lot less obvious way of doing it. Richard Schaeffer seems to have been the guy who knew how to make good matchups. But I can't personally say that I like him either because of his refusal to work with Top Rank.

Fonfara's balance looked bad before and he looked very limited. It turns out that his skills is way above Jr's and he is actually a big fighter

                  doesn't matter who wins

Al Haymon is NOT bob arum and HBO, it doesn't matter who wins they are ALL under the PBC brand. The League (PBC) wins! This is why he is good for boxing.
