The problem here is two-fold:
First off, nobody in their right mind would make a legally binding bid for a fight when both fighters will likely have intervening bouts. You are not allowed to make stipulations within a purse bid, so even if 1 guy (or both) lost their interim bouts and the network retracted their offer, the promoter would still be obligated to do the fight out of their own pocket.
Thats easy if you have $100 million of someone elses money, but for anyone else its a deal breaker.
That being said, Duvas other excuse about currency exchange rates is just silly. And if Kov re-signed a new deal with HBO that does not give him the ability to fight off HBO in the event of a lost bid, then she should not have requested being named as mando, and should have just tried to negotiate a deal instead.

But Yvon Michel is not the most reputable guy around either, there are reasons most of the fighters he has represented over the years left him and will have nothing to do with him today.

Hershman says @AdonisSuperman wasn***39;t so stellar in last fight. So, @KrusherKovalev "doesn***39;t need to chase anyone"

Kovalev should seriously consider jumping ship. If he remains a free agent he makes the least amount of money because no one will invest in a guy who can go across the street in his very next fight. Financially if he fights for Haymon he can have all the big fights on the biggest stage, but then he signs his career away to one of Haymon's 9 year slave contracts. He could re-up with HBO, make good money but miss out on the big fights with Stevenson, Beterbiev, Fonfara/Chavez winner.

As far as HBO goes....whats the point of bankrolling Kovalevs bum of the month club if they don't put up for Adonis in this purse bid?
Why aren't they backing Main Events to get this fight?

The Kovalev fans have turned into delusional hypocrites just like the *******s. Kovaltards has a nice ring to it!I'm not saying that Kovalev fears Adonis...he's a fighter...fighters fight. Neither guy is scared. I respect the Hell outta Sergey...awesome fighter...but we gotta call a spade a spade here.
Honestly, it's a lot safer at this point for Main Events keeping him on HBO. We can look forward to him fighting the likes of Mohammedi (who was knocked out by Sukhotsky in two rounds!!!), and Chilemba (whose biggest claim to fame is barely getting a draw with Tony Bellew...a guy Stevenson destroyed).
Haymon currently has Adonis Stevenson, Artur Beterbiev, Lucian Bute, Eleider Alvarez, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Andrez Fonfara and a slew of other big name fighters at 175. I'm not saying Kovalev can't beat some or all of those guys...I'm simply saying that those are all solid fighters. Some have more skill (Beterbiev, Alvarez) and some just have big name value (Chavez, Bute)...but one is THE champ...Stevenson.
The ONLY "big" fight for Kovalev is a rematch with Pascal. And all the Kovaltards were saying how a rematch was unnecessary because he won so convincingly. So does that change now? Is Pascal now a bigger and more challenging fight than any of the above?
Lame Events has no idea what they're doing here.

The whole WBC purse bid was smoke and mirrors by Stevenson's promoter. He knew Kovalev has to fight Mohammedi first or lose his IBF title.
If they were serious, the WBC would have had the purse bid in the summer.
Stevenson is still ducking, but it seems his promoter's PR skills have improved by putting Main Events into an awkward position.
That being said, once again Duva didn't deal with the situation as wisely as she should have.
Maybe Sergey Kovalev should get a promoter with more money and influence (like Golden Boy or Rabinsky).

DUva asks for Kov to be made the mandatory last November when Kov is on HBO and Stevenson is on showtime. Duva then pulls out of the purse bid. Both of these were done with Kov's consent. And you say Stevenson is still ducking.
LMFAO!!
