Comments Thread For: Kovalev, Main Events Withdraw From Stevenson Purse Bid
Collapse

Whatever happens in the future, all the Superman haters will just have to quote their posts from the last 2 years and change Stevenson for Kovalev in their paragraphs... The list of good challengers just went dry on Marh 14th for the Can-Krusher, and he might have to go with laughable opposition as well for a while... At the moment, the ONLY suitable fight is a Krusher - Superman fight ... Anything else is wasted money, at least until Beterbiev is allowed in ......

Don't know what to make of it, seems silly "business" and ego moves are being made by business people in boxing and the fighters are not really in the picture.

If they were serious, the WBC would have had the purse bid in the summer.
Stevenson is still ducking, but it seems his promoter's PR skills have improved by putting Main Events into an awkward position.
That being said, once again Duva didn't deal with the situation as wisely as she should have.
Maybe Sergey Kovalev should get a promoter with more money and influence (like Golden Boy or Rabinsky).
But maybe there will be more to the story in the upcoming days.

Yes because Haymon has no business bankrolling any promoter. He is an advisor and that is all. If he wants to be a promoter, he should cancel all his advisor/management contracts and become a promoter. He should not be permitted to continue to work in this manner. It is a defacto violation of the Ali Act and should be acted upon.
Kathy and kovalev just don't want the fight.

If you don't want a purse bid then WHY ASK FOR ONE?
Stop apologizing for Team Duckvalev's BAD business practices...

2nd, Haymon has every right to bankroll whoever the hell he wants. Promoting and bankrolling are two completely seperate things. You are blatantly misrepresenting the facts when you talk about the Ali Act. Haymon can invest in his fighters since he stands to profit from them doing well. Thats common friggin sense.
When all else fails blaming Haymon is always an option huh?
