And on top of that, not being in a position to win the title. All a part of this mystery plan Quillin is going to unveil, lol. What the hell is going through Quillin's head? He could not have possibly made more worse decisions in his career. Talk about self-sabotage, Quillin has to be a sadomasochistic person.

People sometimes don't get it that at this plateau getting from 161.4 down to 160.6 is very very hard. Kid will be weakened tomorrow because of his improper camp and delayed weight cutting.Comment

Yes self-sabotage is also called a success barrier - you have a clear opportunity to shine and because it's so visible you subconciously flop it due to some inner fear and self-doubt.And on top of that, not being in a position to win the title. I don't think making weight will weaken Lee, as he'd said he would be campaigning at Light-Middleweight a couple of fights ago and fought JJ at that weight if I remember correctly? So MW won't be a problem for him.
Also saw someone had posted that it's great for Lee that Quillin didn't make weight because he'll keep the title no matter what. Surely if he loses it becomes vacant though, it's just that Quillin can't win it.
Anyway, hopefully Lee retains as there are plenty of matchups with UK based fighters that are appealing - BJS, Eubank, Ryder (or Blackwell if he wins), Murray etc.Comment

I tend to disagree .
Hagler, Herns, Minto ,and the rest all made weight easily because almost all of them fought at their naturel weight.
Now you have guys boiling down to try to fight 1 to 2 weight classes below their naturel fighting weights.
You got guys balloning up 20 pounds on fight night.
If you cannot make the weight limit on fight night you shouldn't be fighting at that weight ,simple.
Hagler spent his entire career at middle weight and always came in between 157-159 lbs. He walk around less than 165lbs so when he started training his weight would come down auto matically with out draining himself.Last edited by jknightx; 04-11-2015, 07:26 AM.Comment

What a loss to literacy this d1ck is...Peter Quillin once held one of the middleweight belts before dropping it. Once vacated, Andy Lee knocked out Matt Korobov to get that title. Lee will face Quillin on the undercard of “Premier Boxing Champions” this Saturday on NBC. The fight is a non-title encounter after Quillin failed to make weight on Friday.
“Andy is a newly crowned champion. I would be disrespectful if I would say something disrespectful of somebody who’s made himself a champion. I have no bad things about him. I think one of his greatest strengths is that he lost twice, came back and made himself look very good and win the championship of the world," said Quillin, who dethroned Hassan N’Dam back in October 2012 and made three successful title defenses.

I think it also has to do with guys being to big for the weight class they are in. in older days they seemed to be in the right weight class not 2 divisions under their fighting weightI don't understand how we see this more and more in modern boxing. I don't ever remember this happening as much before with the old school fighters.
Seems like this generation doesn't understand the meaning of sacrifice and hunger. To let weight deter you from winning a championship is inexcusable.
Quillin not only let the fans down, he let himself down.Comment
