When it's all said and done, and even now, Golovkin will be the bigger draw even though he's basically fought no worthy competition
You're wrong about that. Martin Murray isn't a big name, but he's at least as tough and worthy an opponent at 160 as BHop and Pascal are at 175.

American fans won't give credit no matter what. GGG needs to beat someone worth from the US/Mexico to be perceived as the one with worth opposition. All others are considered eurobums.

Because Hopkins fought Kovalev. If Hopkins didn't fight kovalev he'd still be fighting the first two guys of 2014, he lucked out there that somebody grew some nuggz

GGG team hoped Hopkins would choose GGG instead of Kovalev back then. Due to his loss to Kova, there was no point to pursue the fight thereafter.

As usual people confuse opportunity with ability.

Duva has not done a better job, the difference in Golovkin and Kovalev's careers are the state of their divisions. Martinez, Sturm, Quillin, N'Dam all absolutely refused to fight Golovkin, thus preventing him from advancing his status. Golovkin offered to fight Martinez in Argentina instead of Murray, would've conceded the vast majority of his purse rights to Sturm, signed to fight Pirog, signed to fight Chavez, attempted to fight Geale before he lost to Barker, made inquiries with Quillin, Froch, Kessler. But b*tchers will b*tch.

HBO backed Kovalev to go to the UK and fight Cleverly. After that politics played a role in Kovalev landing a shot with Hopkins and as result of that fight, there was more money/interest to allow the Pascal fight to happen. Kovalev has had a great run with Hopkins & Pascal, but you have to wonder if his current trajectory will have anymore big fights on the near horizon. If he's aligned with HBO, Haymon may not allow any of his fighters to fight him. So you could ask again a year from now who has more momentum between Kovalev & Golovkin.

The B-Hop fight was a massive deal for Kovalev. Back when Stevenson jumped ship he looked fucked. It looked like there was no one there for him to fight. Things are every different now.

If Golovkin beat Canelo I think he would be massive. They should be willing to take a pittance to make that fight happen. Getting Oscar back on the marching powder should be a priority too.

Duva didn't do a better job. It's about equal. Kova was brought along to become a champion, GGG was brought along to be a superstar. Both are equally successful in their own ways.

We all should not forget that prior to the recent loss Bernard beat Pascal, Shumenov, Cloud at LHW to give him enough confidence boost to challenge a legitimate top opponent in Kovalev. Unfortunately for GGG there are no long-term reigning champs in MW, they all need time literally and figuratively. Canelo would be willing to face someone below GGG to test waters before. Cotto dismantled cripled Martinez and is looking to test waters below GGG and fight maybe Geale. The situation is just not right for GGG. It laid out very well for Kovalev.

I think Alvarez will fight Golovkin. If it's not Ward or Froch, Alvarez will be Golovkin's mega fight.

Hopkins was the difference. And that ONLY happened because Al Haymon stalled so long with the Stevenson fight, the fight Hopkins preferred.

Unfortunately for Golovkin there is no 160 pound equivalent of Hopkins and Pascal willing to fight him at the moment. Kovalev and GGG were basically in the same exact boat until Hopkins stepped up, GGG is still waiting for his "Hopkins".
