Great insight. I agred with your assessment of the fight. Danny won, but to ignore the bad reffing, and bullsh.it kd shows a lack of intelligence or a blind loyalty to the Philli-rat.

Close fight. Should be a rematch instead of salka, herrera & pederson.
Matthysse will have all of the belts soon since PBC is making their own, and I'm sure the sanctioning bodies will drop those fighters with belts.Comment

If Danny was going to hang around at 140 for 2014/15 he really should have rematched Herrera and Matthysse. If he took both those fights and won he'd have one of the best 140 runs in a long time.
The big surprises in this fight were Danny's punch resistance and the return of Matthysse's tentativeness when initiating offence. He looked like the guy who fought Devon and Zab again. I thought he won both those fights but he didn't win this one, because Danny's a tougher kid than both Devon and Zab and was far more willing to exchange and counter when the opening was there.Comment

I share the same view with the thread starter. However it was good performance for Garcia at the second half of the fight, he deserved the win and I'm not trying to take away anything from him but still I think Matthysse would have won it wasn't for his swollen eye.Comment

Was a competitive fight, Lucas's eye being damaged by Danny couldn't have been accounted for but that is how it goes and was all legal. Plenty of so so kds happen but the ref has to call what he sees. There was also a point later in the fight where Lucas landed flush maybe got Danny's attention but Weeks stepped in don't remember why, halting any offense.........Tough break for Matty and Danny employed a great gameplan and was the better fighter that night. Would love to see a rematch.Comment

I didn't see much of a problem with the fight. Lucas was suppose to blast out Garcia according to everyone. The machine, the terminator, blah blah. Well he didn't and people still trying to figure out how that happened.
Honestly, Danny gave him a boxing lesson as far as I'm concerned and showed when power isn't fully involved in a Lucas fight, Lucas don't got much else going for him to pull it off.
I give Danny respect for the fight because he didn't need to face Lucas who was pretty damn dangerous at the time and still is. He took him on, did what he had to, fight is over. Sure, it wasn't as entertaining as a lot of us thought it would be, but it's a good win for Danny none the less.Comment
