    This.

The guy has just freed himself of his contract, signed a huge deal. And now wants a tune up, you guys blast him for not fighting then when he does after an 18 month hiatus for not picking a tougher opponent.

Gonna laugh my ass off at y'all when he calls out GGG and the Golovkin fan boys say but he don't deserve it, or he gotta weight drain when GGG fights at 180+ come fight night. Pu$$ies.

Smith would have been more credible after the tough fight he gave Abe last year, though he looked truly awful against a motivated Abraham last out.

Ward needs a good few rounds, I would have preferred a statement win over Smith than a couple of rounds versus Periban, right now the Mexican has zero credibility. Smith hasn't much more, but he is certainly higher in the stakes with his decision losses to the WBO champ.

So he has negotiated Froch and Kessler and now he looks to end up with Periban? This is the best SMW in the world. A p4p fighter.

Good thing this fight will be on BET because that's where it belongs. Ward needs to get some rounds in -- curious to see how he'll look.

He needs a tuneup and its on free TV. What can you do? I'll watch to see if he's rusty or hasn't missed a beat.

I am eager to see him back after his surgery to see if he incorporates his right hand more into his offense.

Just sounds like Periban's team pushing him to get the fight. I'd prefer Porky Medina, plus he's in the WBA's top 10.

              A tuneup is a tuneup.

Not gonna argue much about the quality of the tuneup.

Ward needs to just get this one out of the way to get back in the swing of things.

Periban's only win since 2013 came against a guy that was 16-14-2

Floyd says that Ward will beat GGG, but Ward chooses Periban with a record of one win, one draw and three losses (one by TKO) in his last five fights. Dreamland meet reality.

I'm fine with that as his opponent after his self-imposed layoff, but why wait til June 20th?

Hasn't this guy bragged about staying in fighting shape the whole time? Why does he need another 11 weeks to prepare for Perriban? He could fight in two weeks against Perriban and then again on June 20th vs Medina and have his tuneups done and be ready for a real fight.
