That was a world title eliminator and frankly it was disgusting and total disrespect to everybody involved especially the paying customer.
Why is this lazy oaf getting rewarded? This is what is wrong with boxing!
He didn't even train, show heart or even try to win his last fight. Hes lost about 5 in a row and getting a shot at a top 3 p4p fighter?

Absolute joke of a fight. Periban is not even a gatekeeper at this stage!

What can one say, not equating ward to tiger but hearing that tiger is teeing off in the masters this week, im just happy to hear that, i can say the same about ward, its unfortunate that his career has taken this turn, i dont like that hes with roc nation and fighting on BET, its to much of a wildcard and to much unknown, i do wish he was still with old reliable HBO, as im anxious about what will happen next for him. His unwillingness to travel and his once in a blue moon fighting leave me concerned that hes wasting his prime and wondering what could have been: ie froch, dirrell, golovkin, kovalev even jr, these matchups seem like pipe dreams now, as far as periban, its a step down from the rodriguez fight but that feels like a lifetime ago.

I didn't think he was gonna take on a dangerous opponent for his comeback fight, so I'm not surprised by this.

Anyway, hopefully this means that we get to see Golovkin-Ward in 2016.

But just the fact he has the belt still with all this inactivity is just dumb. If he does a non title, he'll be going to 2 years w/o defending it

Depending on how the Froch stuff shakes out, Ward could fight Periban in June, Medina/Froch in the late fall, and then Golovkin early 2016 (if Team Golovkin/Abel Sanchez is still talking about GGG wrecking Ward)

It'd be a year and a half, come June, but situations like Ward's are why the WBA structured their organization in the funky way that they did.

The champions at super middleweight are Ward(WBA), Dirrell(WBC), DeGale/Dirrell(IBF), Arthur Abraham(WBO) and Carl Froch(wba).

Who's organization is represented by the best fighter at 168? The WBA.
