I think Ray Mercer would have given Tyson trouble on any night.

nah i dont think so. say what you want about tyson that night but the point of this should be that it took a "great" and nearly "perfect" fight by a guy who just happened to have the correct physical tools to do it to beat Tyson on his worst night.

tyson would have gotten to tim witherspoon and knocked him out. even on his best day witherspoon couldnt drop the 1-2 like buster did all night on tysons face. mercer and foreman id both give a good shot just cause they could take the punches and if theyd have strectched tyson to 11-12 rounds that night they woulda won.

isnt it funny how people reflect and make it sound like it was so obvious it was gonna happen?? 42-1 underdog man. that means for all the people who act like they saw it coming in hindsight none were actually willing to put their money where their mouth was.

the way teddy atlas talks about tyson and his downfall you wonder if he was bettin ten grand on his opponent everytime just waiting for him to meltdown.

True. Douglas shocked me that night.
Although I was looking forward to Mercer or Foreman fighting Tyson with those two being the favorites in my book.

Mike Tyson should have won that fight. But because of a low rent ref that didn't know how to pick up the count when he KO'd Buster in the 8th, boxing history was changed. All in all I thought it was a good fight.

Bottom line: Douglas flattened Iron Mike. What is overrated about that? Sour g****s.

he fought the perfect fight that night. it has been proven from that night on that if you take tyson beyond 5 or 6 rounds he is your for the taken. also. did you actaully watch the fight. they where putting a glove full of water on his eye to stop the swelling. tyson took the wrong man lightly. tyson was just supposed to go in KO him in 1 or 2 and than go home. but buster boxed him. now look at every fight tyson lost. except for the williams and the other scrub he lost too bc he had no biz being in the ring for them fights. ok lewis boxed the **** out of him despite the fact that he could sit in his corner and hit tyson sitting in his corner. but he boxed tyson took him beyond the mid way point of the fight and KOed him. holyfield. boxed him took him beyond the mid way point and again TKOed him. than in the second fight he was on his way to doing it again when tyson got alittle hungry. buster boxed him moved around made tyson move around and not just stand and hit and looked what happend. tyson is one of the best HW but if you werent scared of him and than you could beat him. so i dont think that win was overrated. i mean come on who would have thought you would ever see tyson on the canvas looking for his mouth piece. that was something of greatness at that time.

There was nothing overrated about that performance. Certainly not to call it the "most overrated performance in history". Douglas came in and made the decision not to be a one round victim and did what he needed to do to win.
