Shouldn't Ward be the one who gets stripped? He holds the higher level title and it is his mandatory defense, not Froch's.

Not just that but he hasn't defended since 2013. It will be interesting to hear Froch's response because he was saying "I'm still a world champion" on IFL, it might be one more thing which pushes him closer to retirement.

He didn't concede anything - he talked to the press and said what they wanted to hear. Probably knowing full well that the fight wasn't going to happen.

Chavez represents Froch's most lucrative fight. Why wouldn't he want that? Ward has been giving names to networks hoping for tune-ups.

This was an inconvenience to both fighters' plans which now apparently has been eliminated.

Chavez is a pointless fight, he could get beat by Fonfara, there probably are fiancially better options DeGale would be a bigger fight. It makes sense for Ward who has very limited options and Jay Z is surely desperate to get him out there, Froch has been giving out weak excuses for ages now and flip flopping. Froch was less positive about this fight when Ward said he would go to England/ Froch started talking bs about he might not even make the weight, before that Froch seemed more confident. Maybe your right and Ward does not really want it but from what came out it has been Froch who looks reluctant, what Ward said made sense.

He could have fought somebody before Chavez. The Groves fight ended up being huge a Degale fight could be massive aswell. Chavez could be beat, his stock is not great at the moment he is a big fight but not as big as made out. Chavez did decent numbers for a middleweight title fight but this fight is just pointless.

Neither fighter wanted the fight. The majority of fans had no interest in the fight. Froch has earned the right to go out with a fight against JCC Jr. in Vegas if that is what he wishes. Ward hasn't earned a damn thing by fighting twice in almost three years and he should have been stripped of his title long ago. Now Froch can go back to trying to arrange one last fight in Vegas and Ward can go back to sitting on his ass and trying to find some network willing to show one of his tune up fights.
