If he fights heiland, giving that if its a tough fight, hell vacate and say that 160 is too much for him etc etc etc imo he's gonna fight heiland first to test the waters.
I just want the guy to fight SOMEONE!!! ANYONE!!! It will be a year in June since he last fought. This has gone further than just taking his time, this has become a total farce. I wouldn't have cared if he had fought Bradley or K9 or whoever he wanted to if he had done it in the first 6 months after winning the title. Waiting a year to make a voluntary defense is ridiculous. And no, his trainer being busy is not a valid excuse. Tough luck. Get another damn trainer if you have to, just get a fight done.

And even at this point, there is nothing definite about him fighting Heiland. Or anyone else for that matter. Nothing official, nothing from WBC confirming a fight. Not a damn thing. If he takes a year to get a voluntary done, will it take two years for his mandatory? You would think that with all the ****** rules sanctioning bodies have in place, they would have something in regards to time limits to defend a title. Anything over 6 months is a joke unless there is an injury to recover from.

Cotto most likely did NOT want to fight while under Arum again... I think this has a lot to do with the long delay after the Martinez fight.

Cotto will be fighting by June and nobody died.

Cotto made an accomplishment by getting the belt. Business wise it made sense. He is soon to retire and is just making moves to get the best business decisions he can make to have a life after boxing. I think He didn't take the Canelo fight because he knew that May-Pac was a very possible deal, and he was making moves to get away from Arum. He still have the belt and have a tune up against a real MW. After this let's see what he does. Possibly Heiland pulls the upset.

I agree. Cotto basically said it, " in every language 1+1 =2 They thought I was dumb, but I am not." Cotto felt TopRank was being shady with his money as well as not "keeping promises"" that they made to him. So I think he was careful NOT to fight again until the RocNation deal was finalized. He seems eager to get into the ring on June and if he does fight Heiland, it should make for a good fight.

this right here, peolpe already thinking about the date or competing with floyd, in the end it will be hbo who decides, i doubt that either cotto or canelo will have anything to say this time..

I agree 100% with Rambu Cotto didn't want to make the fight with TR involved and that's why the crickets at the other end of the phone line when the negotiations fell thru last time. I also think HBO will decide the dates this time not Canelo or Cotto like you stated.

if he signs the canelo prefight agreement with hbo then all this goes to the drain... i dont even see the logic of fighting heiland if canelo is next, might as well just vacate and fight someone at 154, actually k9 was the fight to do with that title at 154, but greedy arum spoiled that...

I agree. The only way the canelo fight can happen if cotto defends vs heiland and then the canelo fight is a non title fight.

It's funny that when a promoter like Arum does something to look out for his own business and boost his own profit, as is a very normal thing to do and most should be commended for doing so, people dump crap all over him and say he is greedy. But when a fighter holds out for millions of dollars more or suddenly decides that the contract he signed with full knowledge of what he was signing is no longer sufficient, he is not greedy and it is the promoter's fault.

Talk about a double standard. If it's just business for the fighter, well it's just business for the promoter as well. And in many cases, such as Ward for example, without the promoter the fighter would never have amounted to a damn thing.
