Good win for Russell. Im happy for him. People questioned his chin and mentality prior to the Loma fight and he proved everyone wrong. And now he proved everyone that counted him out after the loss wrong too.

Because Mares got KTFO before landing anything significant. That and the fact that Mares isn't some devastating puncher.
Truth of the matter is although I favored Gonzalez in this fight and this is a significant win for Russel Jr, Jhonny's chin is notoriously fragile. I don't think that takes away from Russel's win though, he went in there, utilized footwork and hand speed to dart in and out of range, stood in there and held his own against a heavy puncher and landed his own offense in an impressive fashion.
Jhonny never managed to establish a jab against Russel's speed and his wide punches pretty much left him open for Russel's handspeed. Impressive win nonetheless.

Russell showed a lot more commitment on his punches then he did against Loma. Loma was hitting Russell with everything and still couldn't knock out a defenseless Russell. Loma needs to fight Walters then rematch Russell. Russell needs to improve his game by watching Mayweather. and use it against Loma, instead of letting Loma use it against him.

Good win for Gary but his pre and post fight interviews, the man gives off a vibe like you can't trust him. lol, I don't know, something up when he talks. I think it's cause he never makes eye contact practically with the interviewer.

He looked unprepared to fight as if making weight drained him. Not sure about the weight limits but he looked terrible before the bell rang.
Mentally he wasn't there, not to take anything away from Russell the kid looked terrific.

lol, The vibe your sensing from Russell is that he has matured and doesn't Trust those outside his inner circle, which is smart. He's a professional who understands the dirty side of Boxing, and how Racist and petty it can get at times.
So like Gary Russell said , he doesn't fight to prove anything to fans or to anyone outside his inner circle, you know the people that are actually genuine and sincere that have been there with him through the up and downs, those are the people that motivate Gary Russell.
What you picked up on is a Vibe that says "I don't trust you, and Im not going out of my way to appease you or charm you with phony charisma".
That's 1 of the biggest reasons I like Gary Russell, he's not some phony fake ass media whore trying to appease and entertain everytime a mic is in his face.
Good to see Gary Russell bounce back the way he did, good performance, looking forward to more from Mr. Russell in the future. :ANYWORD:

Nonetheless, respect is due to Chomper. Good champion and he beat an excellent fighter in Jhonny. Sadly, Jhonny's best days might just be behind him at this point. I will always be a fan of his but Russel proved to be the superior man last night. Thanks Jhonny, for all the great fights. Your power was truly amazing. Sadly, your chin never held up against many of the good names you fought.
Russel on the other hand just disproved my contorted theory regarding his power and boxing ability. I'm excited for his future fights and glad the WBC has a good champion in their hands. Hopefully T Rex arms can continue to look great and provides us with great fights in the near future.
Eating crow has never tasted so good
If only all fans were as sober minded and humble, gracious. Good stuff dude

This is why I hope PBC takes off. This sport needs fans that actually respect fighters.
But it also needs evenly matched bouts, not mismatches, so beyond the exposure to even less informed casual fans about the sweet science and Art of Boxing and fighting, what has PBC done besides line there pockets with more $$$ ???
Yes more exposure but same mismatches we've always gotten. :ANYWORD:
