That can often be a type B or C personality, meaning not a salesperson type, more of an introspective, reserved type of person. It's just a less outgoing personality. Some of those type people are more trusted and loyal than others. It is easy to see he leads a quiet life. He's a good guy. Not at all arrogant.

GRJ really threw a monkey wrench into this already intriguing division. Great win and performance, I humbly ate my crow and watched my 17 fight prediction Showstreak be snapped last night.

Truth of the matter is although I favored Gonzalez in this fight and this is a significant win for Russel Jr, Jhonny's chin is notoriously fragile. I don't think that takes away from Russel's win though, he went in there, utilized footwork and hand speed to dart in and out of range, stood in there and held his own against a heavy puncher and landed his own offense in an impressive fashion.

Jhonny never managed to establish a jab against Russel's speed and his wide punches pretty much left him open for Russel's handspeed. Impressive win nonetheless.
That's because Russell fought smart. And since when has Russell been a devastating puncher? He was KOing total cans prior to this. While Mares was stopping guys like Ponce De Leon. People made fun of his pitty pats vs Loma. Just a little annoyed that some have tried to take away from the win by mentioning Gonzalez's chin.

He's always been humble. Since he was KOing tomato cans.

I never said Russel was a devastating puncher, I pointed out that Mares isn't one. Mares KO'd Ponce de Leon but hadn't stopped anyone in some time and in fact, that stoppage shocked everyone. Again, you asked a question and I answered. Mares didn't knock Jhonny the fck out because he got caught in a trap and got sent to hell. How could he have capitalized if he got KTFO before he had the opportunity to take a crack at Jhonny's chin?

I personally made fun of Russel Jr.'s pitty pat punches and although he outboxed Jhonny, you have to admit that Jhonny's chin has never been great. In fact, that's his main defect and everyone knows it. Pointing out that weakness does not take away from Russel's win at all, Russel could have just as easily lost if he wasn't skilled and had gotten caught with a big punch.

Russel didn't win solely because of his power but because of his movement and hand speed as well as guts to trade with Jhonny in the third round. Jhonny got over excited after getting more and more comfortable, Russel didn't back down, Jhonny threw a careless and wide combo and Russel capitalized by reacting quickly and unloading a counter punch that Jhonny didn't expect. The fact that Gonzalez has a horrid chin does not take away from the feat, at least not in my book. Especially because of Russel's willingness to trade with the stronger man and and utilizing his assets to their fullest potential and thus exploiting his opponents glaring weakness.

Mares/Russell next please. I would give Russell the edge because of his speed. But good fight.

Perhaps his power won't fully translate against other world class featherweights but I overlooked the incredibly fragile chin Gonzalez has always packed.

I believed Jhonny's chin would hold up to any of Russel's punches and he would be able to land a KO'ing blow in the later rounds. Oh well, great win for Russel Jr. I would love to see Russel Jr. vs Mares/LSC. Both fights would be incredibly entertaining and all of their styles would mesh quite well.

In an interview before the fight I heard Russel Jr wanted to give Mares the first shot at taking his belt, perhaps we get Russel Jr vs Mares up first. Good fight, I think Mares feels like a million bucks right now.. you know, just knowing he doesn't have to face Jhonny again anytime soon
Told ya. Gonzales like you said has incredible power, but honestly I have never been impressed with the way he fights. I had a feeling that Russell wasn't going to have a hard time getting in and when he knows he can beat you to the punch his not afraid to trade and that's exactly what happened. Oh well that's how it goes

Loma needs to fight Walters then rematch Russell. Russell needs to improve his game by watching Mayweather. and use it against Loma, instead of letting Loma use it against him.
                      Not really.

Against Gonzalez he was still mostly throwing fast, pitty-pat punches that missed and occasionally committed to a punch, similarly to the Loma fight. The biggest difference between this fight and his fight with Loma was the caliber of opponent.

Of course GRJ will look like a master boxer against a slow, stationary opponent with no defense who's looking to land one big punch. Loma was more aggressive, moved his head, frequently moved all over the ring- foward, backward laterally and moved in angles. Hard to really sit on a punch if your opponent is moving a lot and in different directions. It threw off GRJ's timing. Not to mention he actually threw punches and jabbed with GRJ. Gonzalez hardly threw anything.

The only reason I'm interested in seeing a rematch is because GRJ insists that the first fight was a fluke. But I don't think most people buy that crap about him being "exhausted". If he actually was that tired, he would have been put down and certainly would not have been able to throw over 800 punches.
