Russel Jr. Makes me eat my word.. twice now. First I had him beating Loma and he let me down, now I had T Rex getting whooped by Gonzalez and yet again.. he proved me wrong. Great, I give up on betting for or against the man

Nonetheless, respect is due to Chomper. Good champion and he beat an excellent fighter in Jhonny. Sadly, Jhonny's best days might just be behind him at this point. I will always be a fan of his but Russel proved to be the superior man last night. Thanks Jhonny, for all the great fights. Your power was truly amazing. Sadly, your chin never held up against many of the good names you fought.

Russel on the other hand just disproved my contorted theory regarding his power and boxing ability. I'm excited for his future fights and glad the WBC has a good champion in their hands. Hopefully T Rex arms can continue to look great and provides us with great fights in the near future.

I always said that Jhonny would had been a P4P fighter if his chin was better. I wasn't surprised that he got KOed but Russell showed that he is a fighter that will go for it

To be honest I always discredited Russel's power and genuinely believed his power against bums would never translate against higher leveled opposition. I was wrong, dead wrong. Perhaps his power won't fully translate against other world class featherweights but I overlooked the incredibly fragile chin Gonzalez has always packed.

I believed Jhonny's chin would hold up to any of Russel's punches and he would be able to land a KO'ing blow in the later rounds. Oh well, great win for Russel Jr. I would love to see Russel Jr. vs Mares/LSC. Both fights would be incredibly entertaining and all of their styles would mesh quite well.

In an interview before the fight I heard Russel Jr wanted to give Mares the first shot at taking his belt, perhaps we get Russel Jr vs Mares up first. Good fight, I think Mares feels like a million bucks right now.. you know, just knowing he doesn't have to face Jhonny again anytime soon

you werent paying attention...russell was landing his jabs very well in round 1 while getting hit with just 1 punch....thats impressive....he slept a bit at the beginning of round 2, then started throwing power punches and destroyed him.....Gonzalez has lost most of his big fights, he is not very good and was always gonna be an easy fight for russell. Just look at the way southpaws like De Leon and Nishioka landed so easily on gonzalez. Russell would never beat Loma but he has always been good.
