They aren't fighting to entertain us. They are doing it to better themselves. Kev also brings up some great points that even 2 fights, mean at least 4 months away from your family and real life. It's a big sacrifice.

Not every fighter leaves their family. For most of these guys who fight twice a year it's about money, it's not always the fighter's choice either, sometimes it's promoters and tv companies.

I'd like to know how many 12 round pro fights the OP and those complaining, have a year. Interesting to know what toll it takes on them.

IMO an up and coming fighter should be boxing every month. If I trained hard and knocked someone out first round without breaking a sweat. I'd happily box the week or two after. Love how decades ago fighters were boxing so reguarly

As much as I agree, If I was in America I don't think I would like having to dish out the ridiculous amount of money to watch PPVS that often. Thats 4 Canelo PPVS, 4 Floyd PPVS, 4 Pacquiao PPVS. Probably 4 Cotto and maybe Chavez Jr. if he is still on PPV.

Well, when you're a superstar, household name like Danny Garcia, you can fight Rod Salka and make a million dollars. Only got to fight once a year.

Guarantee Kovalev fights one more time this year and call it a year. And I would be surprised if Pascal fights again this year, he would probably fight a soft touch to take it easy on his brain/health.

Like I said before: Tougher fights=longer training camps+longer recovery period after a fight.

Another thing is, you may not have a family yet so you can't relate, but these guys want to spend time with their families you know? 2 fights a year is 4 months away from your family(8 week training camps), another 1-2 fights is another 2-4 months away. 4 fights is four 8 week training camps. On top of that, commissions require a fighter who just been stopped to wait a mandatory amount of months where they can't have another fight. Lastly, GGG is fighting 3-4 times a year because of the level of opposition he's fighting, also GGG doesn't even have any kids, so he has no worries about raising children yet. You think a man with kids has no responsibilities? He should just fight the amount of times you want him to for your entertainment, his family be damned? How about you become a pro and go fight 4 times, implement your bull**** obligation on yourself.
ummm i think he has kids ,may be mistaken

Unfortunately, I am going to have to agree here. It's just a natural progression of a fighter who is in the sport. Early on, you need to be more active so that you can make yourself known. Once that happens, you will get major attention and hopefully, it will bring you marque matchups and if successful world title shots, and world championships. If you hit it just right, you could become the next cash cow in boxing. At that point, you would be making six, seven, may be eight figure if you are lucky. If you were in that position, you would fight twice a year as opposed to four or five times. Plus, fighters get old and have wear and tear. For most fighters, a 25 year old would be fresher than a 40 year old unless you are B-HOP. I am just saying that age and success makes most fighters want to fight less due to those variables if things turn out for the best.
