Is the premise accepted that as MW champion if he wants to retain that status he should fight the best and most worthy fighters(after his mando if need be)? yes or no?
Yes, he's a maybe... Canelo is also an option Cotto has said, and a fight with the Manny and Floyd winner. He said all of this on the various ESPN interviews he's done in the past few days. Using your logic you think Cotto has no intent to fight any of them because they're options. Yet another hater.

This has nothing to do with Cotto "the fighter" per say, he could be anyone if they were MW champion and I would expect that champion to make a clear intent and actually follow through with that intent to defend the championship against the best available opponents, what is wrong with this?

He could still fight GGG, who is already scheduled to fight someone at the same or even lower level than Heiland. He's a MW champion too what's the difference?

Maybe someone should ask his 'options' if they have any interest if fighting Cotto. Who knows, maybe Canelo has no interest at all of trying to deal with him again after the last go round. And there has never been any indication at all from either Floyd or Manny's camps that either of them is interested in fighting Cotto again.

It's easy to say that you have all these options but are they real options or just wishful thinking?

The difference is that this will be GGG's fourth fight in the time it has taken Cotto to think about who he will fight next. Next thing you know, he will be asking for a delay because he needs a tune up to fight his tune up. He must have Ward on speed dial and call him every day for new excuses.

It's already been said by Oscar and Cotto that talks could resume again, but it was Canelo who walked away not Cotto. We could very well be getting Cotto/Canelo on June 6th in NY, but Canelo wanted no part of it. He said Vegas or Texas and 50/50 and that's it. Cotto still didn't tell him to **** off, he just said pay me more money and Canelo wanted no part of that either.

I've stated countless times that Cotto didn't do this to be a d*ck it was bad timing with Freddie because of Manny's fight and Canelo pulled out. It's just the situation it ended up being, there was no malcontent behind it, but people need something to be mad at.

Even Gaby Penagaricano stated that they weren't happy with the financial terms and couldn't come to an agreement despite Cotto being offered a career high $10.5mil.

Lets also not act as if his upcoming deal with Roc Nation had nothing to do with Cotto stalling the negotiations.

It's now the end of March and Cotto is yet to solidify an opponent, venue, network.
