WBC Middleweight Title Situation

Haymon WILL NOT WORK with JAZ Z signed fighters. There will be no Mayweather-Cotto II. Cotto has done nothing to deserve it in any case. And the WBC title will not be at stake. Considering how long it took to get things worked out for the Pac fight, it would take another year to work this out if by some miracle they decided to try. That would mean that Cotto would enter the least active champion sweepstakes along with Ward.
People are delusional.Comment

If it's Canelo for the title, no one will care because no one has any actual integrity or respect for the sport. Everyone complaining about this situation will be ecstatic for the match and could care less if the title is on the line or not, or if GGG did or didn't get his shot.Comment

Cotto can cancel his June 6 fight and just wait and see what happens in May. He will probably has his next fight in September with Canelo and it would still be counted as his voluntary defense.Comment

That would mean he would go at least 15 months without a fight, probably more because the way Cotto negotiates they would have to start now for a Sept fight with Canelo. It would not surprise me to see him stripped of the title for inactivity by the time they actually get a fight signed.Comment

that wasn't the only fight that didn't happen last year... imo he did that so he can get those fighters specifically for the pbc thing he's doing.Comment

Haymon and Roc Nation obviously have beef but you think that will get in the way in making Mayweather-Cotto 2 PPV? If Mayweather wins in May who else is he going to fight to make PPV money? Thurman isn't a PPV fighter yet, Khan is a lose/lose situation for Floyd, risky fight but if he beats Khan he won't get any credit for it just another "glass chin, cherry pick".
Plus Roc Nation needs a big fight to try and get things going for their promotion because seems like things aren't going too well for them so far. A Cotto loss to Mayweather doesn't hurt much but losing to Canelo or GGG makes Cotto irrelevant imo.Comment

Well, I'm only one person but I'll be upset. Not at Cotto or Alvarez, but the WBC for not keeping their word. It would be one thing if the WBC hadn't been pushing this idea of redeeming themselves lately. That they're going through all this effort would have me very upset if they didn't keep their word about Golovkin. It would also mean they'll have no problem screwing Kovalev and anyone else they allow to become a mandatory as well.
The interesting thing will be if this does happen, will they require Floyd or many to defend against GGG or strip them. I can't see that happening.
Manny would likely drop the title. They didn't make Floyd drop the JMW title so why would they make him drop the MW title?Last edited by The Big Dunn; 03-25-2015, 12:11 PM.Comment

True. But check the wording-we are allowing Miguel an optional. If he waits until September and fights the Floyd/Manny winner then its not like he hasn't violated their ruiling.
