He get to keep the voluntary for Floyd or Cotto, if not I think they'll enforce GGG. As long as there is more money to be made with other fighters that mandatory doesn't mean **** to be honest.

If Pacquiao beats Mayweather, the Cotto sweepstakes will between GGG and Canelo. Who does the WBC like more, GGG or Canelo? GGG is the mandatory and the best middleweight; Canelo is the best middleweight after GGG(even though he won't admit he's a MW)and puts more butts in the seats. Plus the whole MEX vs PR rivalry will generate more dollars as well.

If Pacquiao beats Mayweather, then it depends on how he beats him: 1) if Pac KOs Floyd, then things become very complicated; 2) if Pac wins by ("a hard fought") decision, then there will be a rematch and Cotto would be left with the Canelo choice...

But if Floyd beats Pac (under whatever circumstances), then: 3) Floyd would immediately go for the full "TBE" status, by meeting Cotto at 155 for the lineal MW Ring's belt (no matter what WBC does)...

Cotto may plan for a june fight, but he doesn't necessarily has to actually take that fight -- Cotto might only wait for the May 2nd outcome in order to decide who and when to fight next (the TBA in June or Floyd / Canelo in September)...

[Anyway, there it's very very improbable that Cotto will fight Golovkin.]

It wouldn't surprise me if Mayweather announces a fight with Cotto shortly after the May-Pac fight if he wins. Might be the reason Cotto is taking so long to announce an opponent for June, why risk a loss against a lesser name when you have a big PPV against Mayweather coming up.

Actually, if Cotto is stripped or vacates, then as "interim" champ GGG would be elevated to full champ. He would not have to fight for the vacant title.

This is one of the side effects of the WBC and WBA having so many interim champs.

The WBC have been heavily promoting GGG for the past year. They have been promoting him more than any other boxer, even their own title holders. Ever time he has a fight, he becomes the WBC fighter of the month for that month. Suleiman travelled to Monaco for his recent fight against Murray and was in the ring after the fight and personally put a WBC t-shirt on Golovkin after the fight.

WBC has been publicizing the fact that he is the Interim Champion since he won that title from Rubio. They have been pushing the fact that he is the mandatory challenger for the MW title and that the winner of Cotto's next fight MUST face him for the title.

At their last major conference in Dec in Vegas, they spent time promoting how the sport needs to change and how titles need to be unified. They, along with the WBA and IBF have spent considerable money and time publicizing this.

If the WBC was to go against all they have been doing for the past year and allow Cotto to avoid his mandatory for a money fight against Mayweather or Canelo, they will look like total fools and no one will ever trust them again. I do not think that Mauricio Suleiman will allow that to happen after all the effort he has put into the organization since he took over.

Haymon WILL NOT WORK with JAZ Z signed fighters. There will be no Mayweather-Cotto II. Cotto has done nothing to deserve it in any case. And the WBC title will not be at stake. Considering how long it took to get things worked out for the Pac fight, it would take another year to work this out if by some miracle they decided to try. That would mean that Cotto would enter the least active champion sweepstakes along with Ward.

                People are delusional.

If the WBC doesn't enforce Golovkin's mandatory, they should never have bothered letting Golovkin take that spot to begin with. What little credibility the WBC has worked to regain will go right out the window.

If it's Canelo for the title, no one will care because no one has any actual integrity or respect for the sport. Everyone complaining about this situation will be ecstatic for the match and could care less if the title is on the line or not, or if GGG did or didn't get his shot.
