WBC Middleweight Title Situation

Here's another example I got off wikipedia.
"For example, George Foreman was considered lineal champion from 1994 until 1997, when Shannon Briggs beat him. After the WBA and IBF stripped him of their titles in 1995, Foreman fought only two, low-ranked opponents before Briggs."
As for the rules (straight from ring mag)
Here are the seven situations in which a champion can lose his belt:
The Champion loses a fight in the weight class in which he is champion.
The Champion moves to another weight class.
The Champion does not schedule a fight in any weight class for 18 months.
The Champion does not schedule a fight at his championship weight for 18 months (even if he fights at another weight).
The Champion does not schedule a fight with a Top-5 contender from any weight class for two years.
The Champion retires.
The Champion tests positive for a banned substance.Comment

From RING:
1.The Champion loses a fight in the weight class in which he is champion.
2.The Champion moves to another weight class.
3.The Champion does not schedule a fight in any weight class for 18 months.
4.The Champion does not schedule a fight at his championship weight for 18 months (even if he fights at another weight).
5.The Champion does not schedule a fight with a Top-5 contender from any weight class for two years.
6.The Champion retires.
7.The Champion tests positive for a banned substance.
I wonder if number 4 considers catch weights to be at the championship weight. I certainly do not. So if Cotto does not defend his belt against a middleweight at MW weight limits for 18 months, he can be stripped.
If he drops to 154 to fight for a title, he can be stripped at 160 as that could be considered moving to another weight class.Comment

It's amazing to me how some people around here shout at the top of their lungs that they hate Cotto fanboys/d*ck riders, while jumping up and down on GGG's d*ck. You guys are incredible calling for Cotto to vacate, he's a paper champion saying he will get destroyed if he fights GGG, he's a diva, he's a moron making dumb decisions, he's a coward a bum and so on and so on. But this man has never ducked anyone in his career yet he is ducking anyone with a pulse. The WBC did something that sanctioning body's don't normally do, they allowed the champion of another title become the mandatory to their champion and even worse made him an intern champion sharing top billing with their real champion. If you think Suleyman won't change his ruling for either a Canelo or Mayweather vs Cotto fight, I have a bridge to sell you.Comment
