The winner would be obligated to defend against GGG in his next fight. Any other defense is out of the question and would lead to the title being stripped.

I'll watch just to see Cotto get Trouted. It's not GGG or Canelo but with boxing these days, I'll live with it.

No way this is PPV though. No way. This is disappointing though; could have been GGG or Canelo.

Dude beats Matthew Macklin (who is 4-4 in last 8 fights) and all of a sudden it's legit.

        Fan boys seriously reaching.

          but but monroe do

Fanboys need to commit. Is Cotto an A side? Yes or no. If Yes, then he pick any fight he wants. This is it. Heiland. Legend.

No reach at all. I'm definitely not a Cotto fan but as long as he is fighting a middleweight and defending his title, I am fine with it. Assuming that this is not at a catch weight of course. Heiland is a ranked MW and suitable for a voluntary defense.

Yeah, I'd go with the active guy, too!
You are incorrect, Cotto has been spoken about constantly non stop since the deal with Canelo fell thru. Granted most of it has been in relation to fighting GGG and vice versa. In my opinion Cotto is much more popular the WBC is butt hurt because they granted Cotto the voluntary defense to fight Canelo and Cotto made other plans.

He is just ranked with the belt org, not a legit top 10 in the division overall. Funny how belt ratings never really mattered till now.

Heiland might turn out to be crap, but he also might not be Floating K-9's name at least lowered expectations. No doubt going in that he was a dismal challenger.

Why are people concerned about Heiland's WBC ranking, as if it means anything?

The real question is do you have something legit to contribute to this conversation? Or are you just going to continue to spew your non justified hate?
