You can count on one hand, without using all your fingers, the number of boxers that actually choose their opponents. The boxer just fights who they put in front of him.
Not even Pac picks his fights. If you hate his promoter or matchmaker that's fine, but Russell is just doing his job. Guys on this site think PROFESSIONAL boxing works like calling a kid out in high school.
