Apparently HBO won't host Cotto's next fight unless Canelo is guaranteed next.

HBO is making the bigger money fight for themselves. cool I get that. I'm just saying if I'm GGG, I'm pissed that this ultimatum wasn't made to cotto on his behalf.

ggg cant force cotto in the ring, there is nothing else he or hbo can do about it...

But if Cotto said "I don't want to fight Alvarez next because I'd rather fight Golovkin," HBO would be fine with that. This "guarantee" would be forgotten.

Taking the fight against Canelo is actually the bigger money fight for him.
I don't have a theory. His actions suggest the Floy fight would be more lucrative than Canelo right now.

Alvarez was setting "deadlines" way too early. He tried to be the big man and act the bigger star and force the May 5 date like he was going to compete with Mayweather for it. Far as I'm concerned, it's Alvarez's fault.
They could have had 11 deadlines, Cotto wasn't taking that fight. His own manager stated that Cotto wasn't happy with the financial terms for the fight despite Cotto being offered $10.5mil.

Cotto's problem is that he thinks he's a MUCH bigger star than Canelo when in reality he's not. Remember, A-side is the one who generates the $$$. Does Cotto generate more than Canelo at this point in their careers? I don't think he does. Both have similar ppv #'s when they are the a-side and Canelo outsold Cotto by 1mil ppv buys when they both fought Floyd.

My point seems to be missed.

The gesture/stetment on HBO's part helps Canelo get what he wanted-a fight with Cotto not in MSG. If cotto leaves, fine. Its just the lengths HBO went to for Canelo and not GGG.

If I'm GGG, it would've been nice to see HBO make this gesture on my behalf as it gets GGG a high profile ppv fight for the MW title.

I doubt cotto changes his stance and says that Bojangles. It's also hard to think HBO would then choose a smaller money fight.

ODLH was semi bluffing with the May date. He wanted it for Canelo but he was also trying to force Floyd to fight PAC.

If Cotto wanted Canelo and Floyd-PAC was made...they could have easily made a backup date. And pushed it to June 13 or earlier. But Cotto instead, didn't even RESPOND. If he wanted it on his terms..fine. But the guy didn't even respond to negotiate.

Frankly, I think Cotto was being too much of a "diva".

His actions also support my theory. And again...A Floyd fight wasn't guaranteed to be more lucrative than a fight with Alvarez... Probably even a lesser chance as he got a BIGGER purse guarantee offer to face Alvarez.
