I hate this type of ****. Cotto either needs to take a crap or get off the pot. I have always been a fan of his inside the ring but this premadonna **** has just got to go. Either you made enough money and this is about legacy or get the **** out of the sport.

What I am saying is that if Cotto vacates the WBC title and goes back down to SWW, or is stripped by the WBC for refusing to fulfil his mandatory, the Ring Magazine will no longer recognise him as lineal MW champ.

As GGG is No1 contender with Ring Magazine as well as the WBC, they will either award him the lineal title by default or wait for the result of his next fight and the winner of that will become lineal champ.
Please stop giving Ring Magazine credit that it does not deserve. Ring Magazine title is just that: Ring Magazine title. It is not to be confused with lineal titles. 2 different Things.

Who do you think it is that awards lineal titles? God? The Illuminati?

It's supposed to be us, "the fans" but I've been a boxing fan all my life and nobody ever sent me a ballot paper.

Various other organizations, including Boxingscene, sometimes "award" lineal titles, but it's the Ring champions most fans are referring to when they talk about lineal champs.

At MW, the present lineage started when Ring Magazine named Sumbu Kalambay as champ after the retirement of SRL. So at MW at least, the lineal title and the Ring Magazine title are the same thing.

Personally, I think the whole concept of lineal champions is a bad idea and we'd be better off forgetting about it. But it's become a big deal at MW and LHW recently, so we have to accept that and discuss the problem as best we can.

Seems likely that Cotto will want to face the May-Pac winner or Canelo after his June date. Also seems likely that the WBC will choose to sanction either those fights rather than stripping Cotto and having Golovkin fight for the vacant title against Jorge Sebastian Heiland or Tureano Johnson.

Canelo if he wins will fight Cotto next. I feel that GGG is in line for a huge payday. Trust me i, feel like if either Pac or Mayweahter dominate the other or Crushes the other with a big KO. The they will fight GGG in fall at 154. I could see Pacquaio vs. GGG in Macau at 154 with GGG not being over 163 on fight night. Or Mayweather vs. GGG from Vegas at 154. However there will probably be a rematch between these two in the fall. Because it should be a relatively close fight. So Where does GGG go from there?

The WBC have been promoting Golovkin non-stop for almost the past year. They have been pushing him more than any other fighter and he does not even hold the WBC title. They went out of their way to declare him the mandatory challenger for their title before the Rubio fight, unheard of to make the champion of another sanctioning body a mandatory, and confirmed it by making him interim champion after the Rubio fight. After his last fight in Monaco, Suleiman personally went in the ring to put on a WBC t-shirt on GGG. GGG has been featured on the WBC website on numerous occasions over the past year, most recently with huge congratulations for him retaining the interim title and being the mandatory challenger.

Now does anyone think that after all that promotion the WBC will suddenly change their mind and tell GGG "Sorry, you have to step aside for Floyd or Canelo to have a title shot. Yes, we know that neither of them have earned a middleweight title shot, and that we have promoted you non-stop for the past year, but that is our decision."

If they do that, they destroy whatever dignity they have rebuilt that Mauricio has gained since taking over from his father. They make themselves look like fools and destroy all the good will they have built with the other sanctioning bodies in the goal of title unification.

Not gonna happen. Cotto defends against GGG or he will be stripped.

When it comes to GGG, "ducking" also has a different meaning than it has for other fighters.

Andre Ward said he would fight GGG, then nothing happened. So obviously GGG ducked him, yeah?

                      Bizarre.
