  • Comments Thread For: Pacquiao's Adviser Stands Firm on Mayweather PED Fine

Michael Koncz, adviser to WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, is standing firm on his demand for a $5 million penalty for a failed drug test in the upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr., who holds the WBC/WBA welterweight titles. The fight takes place on May 2nd from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and the US Anti-Doping Agency [USADA] is handing the random drug testing protocol.

Koncz made a request for a failed test penalty of $5 million if either boxer tests positive for a banned substance, which in turn would cancel the fight.

Why is he bringing up Brandon Rios? If he had a problem with Rios testing positive, he should have filed a lawsuit.

If the 5mil penalty is in addition and doesn't limit any liabilities then I dont see what the problem is. Make it so that whomever comes up dirty has to pony up $5mil within x amount of days while the legal proceedings play out.

Koncz rly is an idiot......Didnt have to fight Rios, and if you didnt you could have filed a lawsuit for monetary damages related to the fight and the money lost.

Maybe Im too far out the box, but it seems odd for Koncz to bring this up continually for a couple days now. Im sure the 5 mil penalty if signed also states that the only thing paid out if Manny tests is only 5 mil, not being able to sue for a 100 million. Not dumb considering i doubt USADA or NSAC fines for much higher.

Just seems odd for Koncz to keep talkin about this. Smart on Floyds part, tells me he aint drinkin or takin **** from Ariza, they bankin on Fortune slippin up lol

Koncz needs an adviser to advise him on how to advise Pacquiao.

If he wanted it that way he should have had it in the contract.
Based on what has been written in other articles in the previous days as well as what Arum stated on 03/11/15, it seemed as if Knoncz was trying to limit the liability to 5 million. Now that everyone is calling him an idiot, he's stating the party at fault needs to pony up 5 million immediately before litigation begins. Sounds to me like he's trying to cover up his incompetence.

But hey , spin it however one wishes.
