GGG would have no right to use that as a reason to fight someone in his own weight division either. He is not and has never done so. All Cotto has to do is vacate the title and GGG will never speak his name again and Cotto's nightmares will cease.

Where do you get chump change? That's what Cotto made vs Trout, and probably K9 or whoever he fights next. He'd make way more for a unification vs GGG, who'd also take a smaller cut than similar draws. That's a PPV fight.

If Cotto vacates the belt it means nothing anymore. If Cotto gets stripped or vacates the belt becomes meaningless because it ends the linage and it leaves the division without a champ.

The lineage doesn't end if a champion is stripped or vacates his title for whatever reason. If it did there would have been no linear champs at any weight for at least 50/60 years.

If Cotto vacates or is stripped by the WBC, the Ring magazine will either award the lineal title to GGG by default, or wait until he fights for the vacant WBC title and the winner of that one will then become lineal champ.
