Puerto Ricans hold a fight like Miguel Cotto vs. Arturo Rodriguez to the same prestige as Mexicans with Julio Cesar Chavez vs. Hector Camacho, . They're pathetic. Mexicans on the other hand disregard fights like Abner Mares vs. Luis Malave. Mexicans aren't shameless enough to take pride in beating part time boxing journeymen like Puerto Ricans do.

Exactly what I was trying to say.

I would rather he vacate than fight GGG because it could end his career before he has the chance to complete his contract with RN.

If Cotto chooses to hold on to it and not defend it against a solid middleweight and then against his mandatory, GGG, then he is ducking and should be ashamed of tarnishing a fine career with such actions.
You are putting me in that "cotto fan" category why? I've posted many times that cotto should vacate the belt & go back down to 154 lbs.

"Solid middleweight"? Weere Rosado & Ishida "solid middleweights"?

I don't care how they market GGG, he will never become a superstar and attract a large fanbase unless he fights and beats big name stars. Knocking out b-class fighters, journeymen and taxi drivers may make him popular on this site, but it won't attract large numbers.

Chavez and Alvarez became popular because of their heritage and their background. However, Mayweather fought for nine years and beat the best fighters at 130, 135 and 140 in spectacular form before he became a superstar in terms of fan base. Cotto also paid his dues at 140, 147 and 154 by taking on all comers and fighting his heart out to build his fan base. GGG seems content to fight b-class fighters while hoping that a superstar like Cotto, Alvarez, Chavez Jr. or Mayweather will agree to fight him and give him a large paycheck. It won't and shouldn't happen.

Even the Klithscko brothers had to build a fan base by fighting the best fighters available. If GGG wants to attract a large fanbase, he should move up to 168 and fight Froch, Ward and Kessler, even if he has to fight them in their hometowns. This is how he will attract a fan base and big purses, not by beating featherfisted FNF fighters.

What is sad is fans hating for no reason. You hate GG because he's not black?
What did the guy do? Did he beat women? You hate him because....
                    1.
                    2.
                    3.

You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Fear does funny things to people, I suppose.
He is only one of the most popular boxers on this website and that means absolutely nothing because this message board only reflects the thoughts of 1/100th of 1 percent of boxing fans.

I read somewhere that GGG's last fight in Monte Carlo drew 900 fans. How the hell does that make him one of the most popular boxers in the world?
