I don't get how anyone compares PBC numbers to HBO, I just don't. In order to watch fights on HBO you have to shell out 15 to 20 bucks extra monthly for the subscription, NBC and Spike come with most basic cable package deals.

In fact, NBC is completely free without a cable provider. If anything that makes Haymon's Spike debut look worse since HBO beat it and HBO actually costs extra money to even have access to it. Sure more people would have the opportunity to watch it on NBC but HBO just proved a point, IMO. They don't need to go "free" just to have great ratings.

LMAO @ Dunn trying to belittle Kovalev's earnings. I hate discussing purses since it's not my forte but to say Kovalev was underpaid is grotesquely misconstrued. He may have made peanuts and lint for the Hopkins scrap but he made more than enough this time around and proved to HBO he can draw numbers, win/win for the Russian.

No, she had a budget to work with and could not afford to spend past that budget, just like any normal business.

PBC is basically one giant infomercial. Haymon bought the time and is spending his investors money to run everything and pay his fighters. The idea is to get advertisers to buy in and in the future, they would pay the fighters purses and the air time.

Now, if advertisers do buy in the next question will be, how much are they willing to spend/buy in order to make a profit? And that in turn, will affect the overall product including fighter purses.

HBO is a subscription service with reportedly 32 million homes subscribed.

Spike TV is basic cable, paid for by being included with basic packages from TV providers. The estimated coverage is 97 million homes for Spike TV.

With those numbers in mind, Spike TV has triple the households and still got less viewers than HBO.

The next step is turning Kovalev into a ticket seller. Main events needs to put his next fight in LA at the Stub Hub. Enough with fighting in the casinos back east.

Also talking about HBO / Spike ratings...the he F is wrong with Spike tape delaying the broadcast to west coast viewers? That had to have really hurt their ratings.

Reruns of Cops that aired on Spike right before PBC actually pulled higher ratings

Hell yeah they do! Can you imagine a double header at Stub Hub with Golovkin and Kovalev? That place was already standing room only for Golovkin, adding in Kovalev would be a treat. The fight crowd in the LA area would sell out the venue very quickly. They may have to reformat the seating just to make room for more fans.

Again, bringing up Haymon in a non Haymon thread.
