Exactly. HBO consistently puts on the most competitive fights, the have the best and most consistent ratings and they have proven time after time that they know how to build Stars. Everyone predicted that when Al tried to strong arm HBO until they finally boycotted his butt that Haymon taking his fighters to Showtime would be the death of HBO. Instead they still kill Showtime in ratings despite Showtime overpaying for mismatches all last year lol. And PBC doesn't appear to be denting HBO's business at all. The real losers in the PBC deal is showtime because they lost all their fighters to NBC and Spike TV.Comment

He didn't comprehend that, took it as some kind of diss, and responded that way. Then in you come, exploiting his obvious lack of reading comprehension with your usual stuff.Comment

This is why boxing needs Haymon. Kovalev-Pascal does 0.3M viewers more than Berto-Lopez? That's a shame. It was a great fight between two top light heavyweights. Boxing would have benefitted if 5x more people would of had the opportunity to watch.Comment

Up to this point he was. He gets huge ratings for relatively low pay. I've said this dozens of times before in other threads. HBO made struck gold with him.

HBO is still the Gold Standard in Boxing. PBC will not change that. What Al is doing is paying ridiculous amounts of money for purses, production and promotion only to get marginally higher overall rating. Kathy Duva said it best.
"I did a show on NBC two, three years ago. I had a $150,000 rights fee. I had to live in that" she said. "At the peak of my show, I had 3.2 (million watching), they had 4.2. He went out and spent $8 million on marketing, production, the time buy and only got a million more people to watch than I did. My marketing budget on that show was $5,000." - Duva
The problem with Haymon's business model is he is spending way too money to put on each show and he's paying millions on top of that to the Networks just for the airtime. Yes he is getting better ratings then Friday Night Fights and other network fights in the past. Except those fights were made on a budget where all the fighters combined made less then 1mil. Same with MMA cards where the fighters making less money. Unless you have HBO or Showtime putting up the money I don't see how what he's doing will work. He's spending too much money for it to sustain itself and not getting monster ratings to bring in the advertisers to fund it.
HBO has the best model and doesn't rely on ratings and advertisers the way Network TV does. And they broke business with Al because they didn't want to overpay for his fighters to fight bums.Comment

He got paid over $3million for this fight - he's clearly not a "low paid guy" any more. The fact that he was not paid well before has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than you trying to sneak in a dig at a guy who you obviously hate seeing become successful.
